Label feature not preventing Mower navigation over my "Snowblower"-labeled Driveway Areas

The Label feature doesn’t seem strong enough to prevent the Mower from traversing my Snowblower-labeled Driveway Areas even if there are alternate routes available.

Perhaps I’m missing something here and need to be educated?

If I correctly understood the routing update to the Label feature from a few months ago, navigation would be favored across Areas where the Label was the same as the module. Areas with a Label that didn’t match would not be used unless there was no other route (in my case there’s another available route).

The Mower likes to take the yellow routes to/from the Docking Station to get to/from the upper left MOW Area. Those Areas at top center are Labeled for the Snowblower only. To get to the upper left MOW Area, the mower “should” go from the Docking Station through the “MOW” Areas at the bottom of the map, where all the Areas are labeled Lawn Mower and have working Pathways.

Smart Route is OFF, btw.

I have tried using No Go Zones to thwart navigation over the Snowblower-labeled Area, to no avail. I get that WP032 error, or it’ll get annoyed that I’m putting a No Go Zone at an end of a Pathway. So, nope on trying to be clever with No Go Zones.

I think the options I have to choose from are:

  • Delete the Snowblower Areas, which will cut the navigation off and force the Mower around the house the other way. Re-creating the Areas is a bit of a pain, so it’s not a great solution.
  • Delete the small Pathways to/from the Snowblower Areas, then re-create the Pathways in the winter. Not as big of a pain as deleting/re-creating the Areas themselves.
  • Use Decoy Deadends. It requires remembering to add them to the Work Plans, and it won’t help in the case of pressing the Recharge button.

I’m going with Decoy Deadends to work around this for now. (Decoy Deadends are regular Deadends that you add to a Work Plan to pull the rover to a particular location, such as choosing among multiple Pathways to avoid using the same one over and over, or, in my case, to force the rover to move to another location closer to the Docking Station so that it doesn’t navigate over my driveway to go back to charge.)

Anyway, do I have something wrong here? Are others encountering this? Something I need to set that I’m not?

The label favoritism was only applied to the snow blower to prevent it from traversing a lawn. They have not expanded that to any other modules yet, at least not that I am aware. The labels for the rest is strictly for the view filtering.

I would just delete the pathways. The other alternative is that you can backup and restore the map for each season and then go nuts deleting whatever you don’t want to see for summer vs winter. Then restore the map later and do the opposite (delete the lawn or lawn pathways). But right now a map restore resets all the settings, work plans, and schedules.

Ah, got it. Missed that detail. OK, @Yarbo-Forum, it’s Spring – time to add it to the mower.

Thanks (again), Bryan!

I thought about saving the map and all that as well, yeah, but even that’s a bit of a lift.

I’m going to stick with Decoy Deadends for now. I need the Deadends anyway to do some cleanup, so they are there for more than just fooling navigation.

I have Object Detection on for those Pathways going to my driveway, and today while I was testing this the rover got mad at a dumpster, so that feature will help in case the rover gets it in its head to play in the driveway.

Sorry, but that’s just plain dumb. The labels should be a clear filter for pathing. Especially since you can set multiple labels.

Unfortunately, you can’t set them on pathways or anything like a pathway though. They really need to add that too.

Some of the features are so half-baked, like they develop in a module vacuum.

Yeah, they need to adopt a core mentality and bring everything to the core universally and then only tweak for the attached module as needed. Instead everything is centered around the module. Would very much like to be able to tweak all my modules settings without them attached. Would very much like all features like waypoints to be universal to the core and not just a SAM feature, etc.

Yup X100!

As Bryan mentioned, the current label-based routing logic has not yet been extended to the lawn mower module. I’ll make sure to pass your feedback and suggestion along to our product team for consideration.
