OMG. One to two FEET of snow possible? Yea, you can keep that snow up north with you. ![]()
you can send me a few inches so my Yarbo has something to do, but when we’re measuring snowfall in “FEET”, that’s a bit too extreme for me.
Seriously though, I hope Yarbo keeps things under control. Looking forward to hearing the results and seeing your videos.
That much snow would shut my town down for weeks!
I need to figure out my deep undock plan… any ideas how to prevent it from doing the Yarbo dance, weird zero turns or backing up?
Use mega Yarbo? ![]()
Have you done any dry runs to try and tweak the sidewalk design?
To be honest, I haven’t really considered the need for widely cleaning up the area in front of my dock. So far, it seemed to clear things good enough when it drives off the dock and when it returns. I’ll have to pay closer attention to the docking/undocking behavior the next time we get some snow.
Lol, he’ll have some cleanup to do at a minimum ![]()
It might be unneeded, my concern is if we get a drift there and it tries to zero turn coming/going from the dock
In the other thread there are videos/pictures of the result of my dry runs. It runs differently nearly every time now a days, random backwards sidewalks(bug ticket in), and the last time it drove backwards 5-10 feet away from any of the sidewalks in the plan outside the cleared area and got stuck, my buddy came by to rescue it…then the next day I ran it to clear the driveway and it got stuck running the extra sidewalk area in front of the garage door on some snow pack…it was warm and it leaves the blower down low when backing up…and/or it tried zero turning when it shouldn’t have…we’re on our way home and should be back later tonight to “rescue him”
So far, the worst docking issue I’ve had is that it turned the grass in front of the dock into dirt/mud where it does that zero turn before backing up to the dock.
I temporarily resolved it by putting down garage floor tiles leading from the dock into the grass. Problem solved ‘till spring.
I have only had a couple of incidents with Yarbo improperly doing the backwards thing through a sidewalk. Hasn’t happened in a while, and I haven’t changed anything. Fingers crossed it won’t happen to me again!
Yeah mine dug the hole deep enough that it lifts the back end up a few inches before dropping back down…I filled it in with snow and packed it down and now it’s working better…that is until spring thaw😅
Mine did that too and made it real easy to plop some pavers there. Yarbo did all the hard work for me, the digging. ![]()
Looking forward to hearing your feedback then.
Well, spent quite a bit of time yesterday evening and early this morning trying to get Yarbo to do some of the clearing…some success but the base layer was too wet, then refroze, and then the 65mph winds made dense slushy stuff. I didn’t want to run too early as the top layer of snow pack was kinda slushy/peeling up. It was able to clear the sideyard mostly on it’s own but I think I’m giving up on slope mode until the next software release…it even skips some rows seemingly randomly… will have to make more sidewalk corner clearing plans…
The 2 main things I wrote down when I was getting frustrated:
When “stuck” it drives tracks before the bucket gets to position.
It tries way too hard when traction is lost, stop, raise bucket, go back. With wetter stuff it was even getting stuck on the driveway. I think the front end gets snow packed in it while zero turning and trying to perform maneuvers to get unstuck…
Added another couple pics here:
Some things here:
And here:
Still going through camera footage.
Did you try the plow mode with the slushy stuff?
Nope, it was way too deep/drifted for most of it. Earlier this week I cranked it up to turbo and just let it go, had to clear the chute ~3 times but then decided to leave it until it mixed in with the snow more
Wow. How much did you get?
We only got maybe 3 inches of dry powder today, but it’s super windy so the snow drifts are the issue.
My Yarbo has already done two successful runs today.
Probably close to 18”, supposed to snow off and on the next few days too. The wind is nasty, nasty😅
Got stuck in DTW overnight. Flights are getting deleted left and right.
depending which way the planes are going they might be able to just turn the engines off and coast it’s so windy:sweat_smile:![]()
