Manual Learn Mode

Need a feature to teach Yarbo exactly what you want it to do. How to cut, blow, trim etc., how to turn, what to avoid and how to return. This eliminate all of the problems associated with algorithms and undesired results.

In some cases, theoretically we already do that via pathways, no go zones, borders, etc.

unfortunately Yarbo does not currently “replay” those actions exactly as we taught it.

As for recording (teaching) how I want my grass cut or whatever, that would be impractical for yards of any significant size.

I wasted a lot of time trying to make a long winding pathway for Yarbo to follow to use when pulling my tow behind spreader. Spent hours on it and gave up because Yarbo wouldn’t follow exactly what I had manually done.

I’m very hopeful that their path planning will continue to improve, and Tow Mode will hopefully solve my spreader issue one day.

That’s true, however there are a lot of other use cases where this would be useful.

Go to waypoint with the SAM is a good start. Would go to a series of waypoints fulfill this need?
If go to waypoint worked with all modules we’d be partly there if I’m reading this correctly.

I agree 100%, like when I tried to make a path for the pull behind sprayer.

I also tried really hard to make a path for Yarbo to pull a cart with my trash cans up to the end of our driveway. I couldn’t make it work reliably because instead of smooth turns, Yarbo likes to “stop, zero turn, move, stop, zero turn, maybe back up a bit, then turn again” at random places that are hard to predict. Way too easy to jackknife the trailer.

jackknifing the trailer can break the hitch. Just an FYI….

Yep. Leaned that the hard way!! lol

Thankfully Yarbo replaced it under warranty. But that pretty much ended my experiment in towing the lawn sprayer.

Hi Bill,

Thank you for sharing your ideas. We understand this approach could be a good solution in some cases. Our team has already considered adding such a feature in the software design for the trimmer.

For the other modules, we don’t currently have plans to implement this yet, but we completely understand how it could be a workable solution. We really appreciate your suggestion!

If you’re planning that for the trimmer wouldn’t that also include the mower? Aren’t the trimmer and mower supposed to work in conjunction with each other?

It currently, like most module features, only works and is visible when the trimmer is attached. I certainly do hope they eventually expose this to all modules.
