Throughout the year, I have sandhill cranes that peck at my basement windows and deer that eat from my fruit trees. When the Yarbo is mowing, this seems to keep these guys at bay, but for the times that Yarbo is sitting idle, it would be handy to trigger a patrol route through motion detection.
Maybe a portable, solar-powered motion detector that provides feedback to the data center that can trigger a patrol event.
That, or a way to provide the app push notice from another security ecosystem (ring, simplysafe, etc)
It has been asked several times to allow some sort of API such as this. Home Assistant would make this a snap if the API was available.
Yarbo has acknowledge they would like to do an API but I don’t know the timeframe for it.
Yes sir. That’s another great use case for an API and a waypoint - Camera detects motion, rover makes a trip check it out.
My guess is not this year but quite possibly next year. Purely speculative on my part though. I know it’s near and dear to one of the cofounders. So who knows.
Thanks for sharing your suggestion! I can definitely see how useful this would be in your situation. As others in the community have mentioned, using the open API could be a potential solution for this. We really appreciate all your interest in the API and your ideas for creative integrations!
This is a good idea. It would be written that if a motion sensor is triggered then yarbo follows a certain path and then returns to the docking station. That would be cool.
