Option to auto include new deadend in the workplan

  1. When a new deadend is created, it needs to be manually added to the workplan. This involves many non-intuitive steps in the app. My ask is that when a deadend is created, the app should prompt to auto-include it in the mow area’s workplan.

  2. When a deadend is deleted, it wipes out the entire workplan. This should not be the case as I have dozens of deadends and I specially arrange them in a particular sequence in my work plans. On many occasions, I remove and add dead ends to maximize the mowing coverage and deleting the deadend removes the entire workplan.

Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. We understand how important efficient workplan management is, especially when dealing with multiple deadends. We’ve shared your suggestions with our product team for further consideration, and we truly appreciate your input in helping us improve the user experience.

@Shashank - Hey there! Great to have you on the Forum.

  1. Auto-include in which Work Plan? With dozens of Areas I have many Work Plans of all sorts for all different reasons. Work Plans are also agnostic regarding module (there are no “snowblower” or “mower” Work Plans per se, aside from special mapped items like Sidewalks and Deadends being featured).

  2. 100% agree. Nay, 1000%. I asked a developer why Work Plans are deleted if they contain something you delete from the map. It’s to keep things “tidy.” Deleting an entire Work Plan because something is now missing so you keep the Work Plan “tidy”? No, that’s bad UX.

Leave that deleted mapped item in the Work Plan and put a red “X” where the yellow checkmark is in the Work Item list to denote that the mapped item is no longer valid. Allow the user to click on that item to remove it from the list and let the item be gone-gone.

The way some of us organize our mapped items and our Work Plans can vary from simple to – in my case for the snowblower – VERY complex where steps MUST be run in the correct order, else the machine will fail. I don’t want to have to re-create a Work Plan if I’m just making a simple modification.

(Yes, I’m a mapping case study. And a head case.)

I would also like to second @Shashank’s suggestions, with some comments…

  1. As @Ken mentioned, it would be difficult to auto-include, but perhaps the save user flow could include an optional screen to add it to existing work plans.

  2. yes yes yes. This is so frustrating. Please do not delete work plans. Just remove the dead-end/no-go-zonefrom the work plan.

Regarding #1 - maybe ask the user if the deadend should be added to the work area where the deadend starts and also provide a list of areas for user to select? At the end of the day, the UI needs to be more intuitive to eliminate extra steps needed to manually add a deadend.

The App could (optionally!) put it into all the Work Plans where the starting Area is featured, yes. So that could be the auto-add solution. Good suggestion, @Shashank.
