Test deadends and pathways without adding to workplan

Issue: Dead ends and pathways can’t be tested from the mapping screen, until they are added to a workplan and that workplan is executed.

The current app design creates a problem - if the deadend/pathway needs to be recreated by deleting the current one, the workplan is lost. (I have already logged a feature request here).

It would make mapping much more straightforward if there was an option to “test” the deadened/pathway on the mapping screen itself by letting Yarbo do a test run of the deadend/pathway. If the result is unsatisfactory, then the “Redraw” option can be used to redo the mapping.

This will save all of the below steps in the current workflow -

  1. Save the deadend/pathway
  2. Add the deadend to an existing workplan or create a new workplan if existing one is lost.
  3. Run the workplan to test the deadend/pathway
  4. Repeat steps 1-3 again, until satisfied with the mapping.

I asked Yarbo in a post somewhere (that of course I can’t find right now) about no longer deleting Work Plans when a mapped item on the Work Plan was deleted, and IIRC they said they’re making this change.

I like the idea of Click-to-Test, especially Deadends.

I created a work plan called TEST. I use it to try out a new area and the pathway to it before I add the area to an existing work plan. It works with deadends too. Whatever I want to test is the only thing in the plan.

Yes, that’s what I have been doing as well but that becomes repetitive when the dead ends have to be recreated (steps 1-3 above).

I struggle with the mower running into no-go zones and going off the line in several dead ends. Fine tuning them requires performing steps 1-3 repeatedly, which is quite annoying and inefficient.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention! We’ve passed your idea along to our product team for consideration. We’ll be sure to keep you updated if we decide to move forward with this feature. We appreciate your input!
