Overheated Battery didn't start charging below 45

All the official responses I’d seen previously indicated it would resume charging. Maybe they recently discovered the it doesn’t always work.

It did for me but doesn’t always. They seem to have added a check to enforce it at 45. And there are definitely PPP who have heat and charging issues from it.

@cobradunn I posted their last “official response”, what I reported is confirmed from Yarbo via ticket and this forum. Now, the two days I got on the firmware / hotfix has come and gone but apparently its coming some day.

Yep. Now I’m seeing hotfix release by end of month.

There is that whole non-disclosure thingy to sign first.

Did you get signed up for the PPP?

Signed up. Haven’t seen a response yet.

I received 3.9.29 today and sent the unit out to see if it would auto resume. It did the job and came back with 31% bat level. It started charging at a temp of 46 and we are crossing the 2 hour mark with a 24% increase in battery level (55% now), outside temp is floating in the low 90F’s. Battery Temp has not gone over 48. Assume the update has slowed the charge rate down to minimize the overheating (or at least that’s what my one test is saying). I can live with that vs. it just sitting all day to cool off.

yes, that’s exactly what it is doing. They have fraud the charging based on temperature if the temperature exceeds 51 Celsius, it will stop charging and cool down to 45 and then resume charging again.

Yes, that’s exactly what it is doing. They have throttled the charging down based on temperature. It will charge it up to 51°C and then stop once it cools down to 45. It will resume charging again in my testing. I never saw mine get above 49.

@Yarbo-Forum - Fail on your most recent update to fix this. Job did not resume when it went back to recharge; never went over 45C that I saw, but when I checked it was at 88% and still had not resumed the job. I hit resume and off to the races. Will be submitting the information via ticket shortly. Fantastic job on the update to fix this. Quality Control, industry standard clearly. BTW, my settings are 20% and 80% defaults on stop / resume. This is getting to the point of fraud.

WAIT, IT GETS BETTER. I hit resume and sent it out for 20 minutes to finish the job and it came back and is now in “Battery Overheat”. 50C and it is 77F out. @Yarbo-Forum the ticket is #105383. Don’t bother with we try hard and expect better.

Bang up job. Didn’t fix the overheat resume issue, renamed yourself Yabro in your Adaptive Ramp Feature, and broke the ability to connect to the ticketing system. Also appears you did something to the GPS settings and who knows what else.

Fantastico, you know it is almost Ferragosto (the August vacation) in Italy. With all your hard work you should take off for a few weeks like the Italian locals do and reward yourselves for a job well done!

@mike that isn’t my experience. Yarbo has docked and resumed perfectly for the past two days. It hit 79F today and Yarbo has been out there doing his thing.

Well, I’m not making it up. I wish it would work. Did your specs match what I indicated on unit temps? I already sent them all my logs. It doesn’t matter, I think you are on what your second core? I mean mine is nearly three weeks old so I am probably due for one.

What am I supposed to say here. Look at my first post -I thought people just expected too much. I was wrong!

It overheats in 75F weather, doesn’t resume after charge, can’t undock with GPS issues (see my other active post) and my favorite; obstacles in the middle of an asphalt driveway - a TON of obstacles, but only when it is returning to the dock. Its an asphalt driveway that is 11 feet wide and over 1000 feet straight in one part - its wide open. I don’t have the Pro mower yet, all I can do is have the thing blow off the driveway which you would have thought I asked it to make synthetic diamonds for me. Sure I guess I could put the snow blower on an pretend I have snow, but it would overheat. What’s next, too cold to be used in the winter? Snow is an obstacle and “avoiding obstacle”?

@mike1 I don’t think you are making anything up. I’m simply saying my experience is different than yours.

My Yarbo currently stops mowing when the battery hits 20% and resumes mowing at 80%. Maybe I have the golden unit?

I’m actually on my original core but my second mower. First mower had cutting height motor issues.

Yes temperatures come into play. With the current firmware I do see it taking longer to charge.

Ambient air temps haven’t been as high here recently so I can’t speak to the latest with over heating. But I trust what you are saying be accurate.

And yes Yarbo seems to be scared of its own shadow….

Hi Mike,
I’m sorry to hear about the issue you encountered. The recent update was intended to address a problem where the charging process would not resume after the battery overheated. In your case, however, it seems the work plan did not resume after the battery reached the undock threshold. This is abnormal.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. Our support team will further investigate the issue and work to resolve it as quickly as possible. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue improving the system.
