Obviously… duh… So that nobody makes that mistake (or reduce the odds that somebody else does that) , I report mine here… I had no way to reach my router with an ethernet cable without drilling too many holes in my houses… I used a wifi repeater outside, hooked the POE power supply, LAN to wifi repeater, POE to Data Center and voilà… No latency, very good signal, everyone is happy, right?
2 days ago, massive water storm in my area… In the morning, Yarbo shows 4g connection, no GPS… No light on the DC… Disconnect, reconnect, no luck… Then I realize that there is no light on the POE power supply. Wifi repeater is fine (right beside it). I take the POE power supply, shake it a bit, and a gush of water comes out…
If you use an outside wifi repeater with you POE, protect it from the elements…
Now I am waiting for a replacement POE power supply… No Yarbo play for while…
You can use any standard poe+ injector / switch. I have mine going straight from my switch. Just noting this as it may be faster than waiting for a replacement from Yarbo.
Yes. Ordered one from Amazon. Should be delivered today or tomorrow… Did not want to pay 50$ at Best Buy (cheapest one I found) so decided to wait a day or two for Amazon to deliver one…
I would have ordered from Yarbo but 10-15 business days is way too long…
Indeed. The fact that I did not even think that it would not survive outside is mind boggling. Just wanted to let the community know that if your POE power supply is outside, it will fry if exposed to water. Protect it from the elements!
I’m sorry to hear about the issue, and thank you for sharing your experience with the community—it’s very helpful in preventing similar situations from happening to others in the future.
