Rain sensor sensitivity

Allow the use to set the value of the rain sensor trigger that sends Yarbo back to the docking station. Currently this value is set very high and does not trigger a stop mow. Allowing the user to set the value would allow a better experience. Currently it is raining and my sensor is showing a value of 60.

Per the Diag descriptions KB article:

  • Threshold: 1500.
  • The more rain detected, the better the conductivity (lower resistance), resulting in smaller values

Mine started out yesterday at 3 (dry), was 60-90 this morning in the rain, is now creeping up to 150 with more rain. It seems that the description is backwards. And I don’t know when it will decide it’s too wet to mow – what threshold. I almost want to say anything over, what, 20?, don’t mow. And it won’t detect how we the grass remains, only if it has rained, so I’d want the grass to dry out.

It would be nice if it was settable, yes. Coupla things…

  • Be able to set the threshold value, yes
  • Setting to Automatically resume the Scheduler when Threshold indicates rain has cleared ELSE the user must manually enable the Scheduler (my grass is likely soaked long after the Threshold has been met to re-enable mowing, and I’ll want it to dry out, then I’ll start the Scheduler)
  • Notifications for what’s going on (Rain sensor Threshold exceeded, mowing Scheduler paused; Rain sensor Threshold cleared, Scheduler automatically restarted; Rain sensor Threshold cleared, manually restart the Scheduler)

I believe the threshold was recently lowered to 1000. But I would definitely like some clarification here on if that is accurate. Also wonder how much dirt/pollen/dust has an impact on its ability to properly sense.

Mine has some white-colored debris on one of the little posts. I wonder what Canada Goose that fell from.

Thank you for your suggestion!
We will pass your feedback along to our product team for consideration.
At the moment, the rain sensor is designed to trigger when the value reaches 500.
We appreciate your input and support as we continue working to improve the experience!

Apologies for the confusion caused by the KB article.
For the 2023 version machines, the more rain detected, the smaller the sensor values.
However, for the 2024 version, the values increase as more rain is detected, making it more intuitive to interpret.
We will update this section in the KB as soon as possible.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention!

I confirm that rain sensor isn’t working as it should be. I have pretty decent (more of a heavy rain) and the values are 50-80 and it mows. It is pretty wet. It is not normal. They need to be lowered or need to be fixed. 2024 version.
Day before yesterday I had interfere Yarbo to detect rain.

Mine is ignoring rain entirely too…

Threshold is 1000 for the 24 model, per a test I ran yesterday. See the “Rain Detection?” topic:

I won’t be relying on the rain sensor. My slippers always work, though.

I can also confirm the threshold is NOT 500. Under rain it went as high as 950 and Yarbo did not stop its work plan.

Not reliable. I think I’ll just monitor it for now.
