Record Macro Feature

We are a dealer in Wisconsin and we have a customer with a very steep yard. There are certain spots on the yard where the Yarbo needs to turn and struggles so running random plans at random angles doesn’t seem to work well..

Has Yarbo considered developing a plan or work area where you simple record what you want it to do in a small area and it does that repeatedly the same way every time?

This is what a dead end works well for but I wish you could have a dead end functionality where it doesn’t need to back out and it could do many different paths at once.

Essentially like a record and repeat steps functionality.

This has been asked for numerous times. There is one person on here who has painstakingly made over hundred dead ends waiting for an automatic way to do this. The slope logic exists for the snow blower, I would think it should be fairly easy to add for the mower.

Hi there,

Thank you for sharing your suggestion. We’ve received similar feature requests in the past and have already shared them with our product team. I’ve also passed along your specific interest in this functionality for their further evaluation.

We really appreciate your input and thank you again for taking the time to share it with us.

Actually a feature similar to what you are looking for existed already – sidewalks. Unfortunately at some point Yarbo decided to allow sidewalks only for the snow blower module. I sure miss it…

A sidewalk zone would be super useful for me right now.

I’m in the middle of programming areas for the blower module and wasted a considerable amount of time trying to get Yarbo to just drive in a simple straight line to blow leaves off my driveway. I don’t want or need zig zagging or back and forth. Just drive in a line, blowing leaves the entire time. Took a long time to jury rig a solution to that.

Actually the “sidewalks” are not zones (“areas” in Yarbo terminology). They behave like pathways, with two major differences:

  • you could add it directly to a plan (just like “deadends”)
  • path optimization is not active (i’ll come back to this later on)

Since that feature was removed for mowers you cannot do it like that any more (Yarbo, please give us back the sidewalks!). So I have to resort to a different solution now. I place mini areas of about 0.4x0.4m along my desired mowing path every 25-50meters. They must be placed outside the working areas. And then I connect them with pathways (avoid crossing the pathways). Finally, you add the mini areas to your plan.

When you start the plan, Yarbo tries to mow the mini areas. And the only way to reach them is via the pathway. Voila.

If you cross the pathways, then the path optimization kicks in and Yarbo will most likely (not always) follow the shorter route – which is not desirable in this case.

That’s me! Wish that Yarbo would give us a “deadend area” for the steep stuff!
