Remote docking manually

Hey ya’ll.

A couple of questions and how I got to them.

My Yarbo is 60miles away at another property I have so its a little hard to just pop out and check on it.

I struck an interesting thing last night. For some reason my yarbo (Scutter 1) finished its job (first mow with pro mower head) Saturday night and had a hard time getting back onto the charging pad (poor GPS signal probably, but thats on me, I have a couple of trees to trim).

I got a notice that battery was below 5% SOC and a few hours old, so I jumped on the app to try and remotely dock the unit. To my dismay it was at a SOC of 0% and not on the pad but infront of it. I had 5-6 goes at docking to no avail. I could get on the pad but had no idea exactly where the unit was situated so was unable to manually dock.

I had a couple of goes at activating the recharge cycle from infront of the pad but it ended up failing each time. I was able to drive out into a work zone, on zero%, and initialize a recharge command from there and it was able to dock no further issues.

My question is how does yarbo figure out where it is to place itself on the pad?

My other question is, is it possible to add a visual representation of that targeting system to the app for manual docking?

Also a charge history and charge curve would be a nice little extra to have too.

It uses GPS to get to the pad and magnetic sensors to orient itself properly on the dock.

I agree, something to help with manual docking would be nice. As an enhancement, perhaps instead of it driving off the dock, spinning, and then trying to dock again (as it currently does) it could not do that. Instead, if you get it backed onto the dock and hit recharge then it could just park itself with the sensors only and no need for GPS.

@bryan.wheeler are you saying it does this or are you suggesting an enhancement?

There, hopefully that edit is a little more clear. I am saying that it currently uses GPS to get on the dock and magnetic sensors to align itself. The rest was a feature request. :joy:

I thought maybe I was missing something that it did. I usually send it back out into a work area and then tell it to change.

I like the feature request.

Hi there,

As Bryan mentioned, Yarbo uses GPS to navigate back to the docking station and then relies on magnetic sensors to precisely align itself for charging.

Regarding your suggestion about adding a visual representation of the targeting system for manual docking, as well as a charging history feature, those are great ideas! If we see more users expressing interest in these functions, I’ll be happy to forward them to our product team for further consideration.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience and suggestions!

Yes please! I thought I’d be able to dock using the cameras but I couldn’t quite get it. Either a visual of where you are on the dock or as Bryan suggests as long as you’re mostly over the dock do a shimmy to align rather than driving off and back on! +1000000
