Manual (smart vision) charging pad aides

Trying to dock yarbo with the remote or smart vision can be challenging as it’s not clear where to park it. Especially in smart vision mode, when you are close to the charging spot, the cameras can’t see “the treads” to do fine positions.

If the smart vision had either visual parking aides or maybe a visual “overlay” to help with final parking, it would be easier. With the remote, some sort of “hot/cold” beeping would help position. Especially in winter when the pad is sometimes covered

I was thinking maybe some “snow poles” properly placed may give a decent visual aid. But I haven’t tried it.

Oh Yarbo would smack those down with its spins and what not.

Maybe the magnetic sensors could trigger a pop up notification (want to charge?) and then you could have it auto dock at that point relying just on the magnetic sensors (and not also rely on GPS).

The field of view is pretty wide, I think they could be quite a ways behind the charging pad.

It does get tricky because you are only using one of the cameras, so it’s offset a little. But yeah, far enough away you could have a reference point of some sort.

Yea, you just need a couple of reference points.

Dock Yarbo correctly, then turn on the camera.

Place a couple of fixed point objects/marks/etc in the corners of the camera’s view so you can see the markers when properly positioned.

I feel like it could be tricky to get it to work, but is better than nothing which is what we have now.

The overhead app view is the best way. It’s a lot of back and forth though. If that view could be in the SmartVision view… Perfect.

Ken,

Placing a couple of poles behind the pad as range markers might work.
