Wondering if anyone has found a North American source for compatible shear bolts for the snow blower. If anyone has figured out the metal grade that would be helpful, as I have bar stock and can turn somethinng the correct size on the lathe. I find it surprising the my S1 only shipped with 2 spare shear pins, which I have utilized; My gas powered blower came with 8 spare shear bolts and I can buy more at the local hardware store.
I placed an order with Yarbo for replacement shear bolts a week ago, but apparently having consumables available in the country where they would be needed in season was not something Yarbo planned on and they are not available to ship. SMH. More snow predicted for the coming weekend.
To the folks that have owned Yarbo for a while, is the availability for every normal consumable (shear bolts, belts, etc) related to keeping any power machine operating in season, an afterthought with this company?
@Yarbo-Forum can hopefully provide some specs here, but AFAIK, they are pretty unique because of the small size. As JNS said, you can try something else but risk your warranty. Typically if they have stuff in stock, it ships quickly. I’ve received most things in 3-7 days depending on which side of the US it’s coming from for me. There’s always a run on the supplies when people see reports of stuff breaking in the forum/groups. Hard to judge stock that way. It’s best to order before you need it and during the off season if you can. There is a dealer network that you can leverage. BourbonYarbo.com is a dealer I trust and tries to stock most of these supplies and is pretty quick to ship.
Thank you for the dealer reccomendation; I will be ordering from them shortly. There is a small engine place about an hour from where I am in south central Wisconsin that claims to be a Yarbo dealer; when I called to check on the shear bolts they stated that they don’t actually stock any Yarbo stuff.
I generally try and maintain a fair inventory of consumable bits for all of my equipment, but in the case of the Yarbo, have only had 1 snowfall since receiving it and no way to gauge what would be needed beyond the spares in the original shipment. Yarbo managed to find a sizeable chunk of ice in the snow at the end of the driveway that had obviously been placed there as an operational challenge courtesy of the municipal plow.
Wait, I missed that you said it only shipped with 2 spares. It should’ve come with 4 unless something changed recently. @Yarbo-Forum can you confirm?
Hi there, sorry for the inconvenience caused. I’ve just checked your order in our system, and it shows that the shear pins are now in transit. You should be receiving them soon. We really appreciate your patience while they make their way to you.
@rcguymike nope. I meant exactly what I wrote. There were 2 spare shear pins in the zip lock bag labled “shear pins & cotter pins” and there were no cotter pins in the bag; I provided the cotter pins myself.
I have a FedEx tracking number for the parts.. the parts will eventually get here. FedEx has now screwed the pooch and there is a delivery exception moving the product 107 miles from the Chicago warehouse to my home address.
Are there any consumables that I should order now for the mower before I find out I need them in a couple months?
Get 2 spare discs if you have the M1. Maybe a spare set of blades if you have pro. If you have M1 they have extra blades in the box. So you don’t need them right away. I also think it never hurts to have spare antenna mounts and antennas (HaLow and RTK).
As for your missing parts, I’d open a ticket with support on that. Someone messed up. Was the bag opened or sealed?
@bryan.wheeler Zip lock bag was sealed containing 2 shear pins and no cotter pins. No loose parts floating around in the box. I’ll open a ticket just for giggles because I have never witnessed a company spend as much time apologizing for lax QC as I have witnessed here. I absolutley love the product concept and my limited use of the S1 so far has impressed me. My specific needs/use for the Yarbo are due to my mobility issues/being in a wheelchair and it has exceeeded my expectations in manual mode on the one snowfall I have used it for so far. Hopefully the company continues to learn from their shortcomings in communication and QC.
One thing they do well is try and learn and improve. It may not always be as fast as we would like but just seeing the iterative hardware improvements shows that they care and are committed to their product for the long term. They read everything people say. They usually are quietly acting on most of it, when it’s feasible or part of the majority pain points. Example, they released flexible antenna mounts. They released an updated S1 without a cable. It’s not an S2, just a tweak to the design to address a common issue. While I wish other things like the M25 cover were addressed at the same time, it’s still nice to see the improvements. Some are even retrofit options, like the interior protector cover.
For a small/medium company growing into a large global company, they definitely have growing pains and other challenges with that transition. Factor in multiple hardware modules, accessories, and a new entry level smaller product line, it’s bound to create more challenges for them. I’ve been on the journey with them since May 2024 and I’ve seen a lot of positive change since then. When they get things really dialed in, it’s going to be pretty scary what the machines and the company will accomplish. And I’m already really happy with how mine are performing. Are they perfect, no, but I can make it work for me.
