Second battery

Dear Development

Have you folks developed a “Y” harness and cable to allow a second battery to be mounted on the back hitch attachment? This would extend operating time for the snow blower. We got hit hard today and could never stay caught up due to the size of area being maintained? Also is the charging system capable of dealing with a second parallel battery?

The obvious other option is to just do a battery swap. However cabling would still be required as there is no way to connect the auxiliary charger to a second battery without it being installed in the core. Also the speed of the auxiliary charger being so slow would not solve the issue anyway.

Thought?

You can actually charge a battery outside the core with the wired charger using this cable. https://www.yarbo.com/products/battery-power-cord

That connects to the auxiliary charger though? Problem there is charge time. It takes about 6? hours to charge 20 to 80 though doesn’t it?

It does.

I will probably get one for between seasons but it doesn’t solve my issue as the charge time is too long. My guess is the charging system should handle the second battery in parallel it just wouldn’t balance the cells so you would only want to charge to 80% when set up dual. Would be easy to build a box utilizing the original hitch now that it is basically obsolete. I wouldn’t want to leave that way for normal operation but it would have been nice for storms like we had today where I just couldn’t keep up.

Thank you very much for your detailed suggestion and for sharing your experience. At this time, we haven’t developed a Y-harness or cable to support a second battery mounted on the rear hitch, and there are currently no plans to develop this solution.

That said, we truly appreciate you bringing this idea to us, and we’ll be sure to share your feedback and interest with our development team for future consideration.

As Bryan mentioned earlier, we do offer a Battery Power Cord for purchase: Battery Power Cord – Yarbo . Under normal conditions, it typically takes about 5 hours to charge the battery from 0% to 100%.

Thank you again for taking the time to reach out and for your thoughtful input.

Any plans for a faster charging charger and cord? So we could externally charge faster to be on par with wireless charging?

Yeah I would dig that like a shovel. @ken.w.gregory

I’ll third it with the rest of the herd.

Once we are moved to the new farm, I plan to have a couple batteries charged and on standby. If Yarbo could create a mod kit for the battery cover that uses a key lock to allow battery changes without an allen wrench, then I can just have Buzz finish a job, go home, push notify me when he’s home, and I can put in the next battery and send him out again.

That will work but with the price of the batteries I was hoping to keep my requirement at 2.

I was kinda hoping to keep the requirement to one.

Depends how big your driveway is and how much snow you get. lol. We got about 10” and big wind for drifting. Was running fast with minimal over lap all day yesterday. Today Jack is out doing clean up so he’s not working as hard.

I will also attach the markers I use for my RC planes for battery status. Think of them like the dish washer clean/dirty magnet, just a stick on red/green on the top.

Cool idea. Most of mine are gassers though:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Love it!

I put one of those together once. Got a really good take off but after things took a turn for destruction.

Nice collection!

I haven’t flown RC planes in a long time. Converted to drones and have been enjoying them ever since! I love capturing video and stills from the vantage point only a drone can provide.

Just dipping into the DJI Mini Pro 5. Can’t wait. First time droner.

I thought that was “in the works” for development once things got more stable with the mower(s) and snow blower? Definitely seems like a lot of people could benefit. I would consider it just for ballast in winter if the battery price comes down😅

Yes, agreed. More battery would be ideal (without powering down to swap or even have to swap). The added rear weight would also be a bonus.
