Smart assist module

I tried the smart assist module for the first time and I think it’s embarrassing… with the follow me function, if it detects another person, it doesn’t continue to follow the main person but the last one detected and then if there is an obstacle between the yarbo and the person to be followed, it doesn’t stop but tries to pass over it.

In fairness, it does still say Beta. But agree, it needs some attention. Also shouldn’t be unique to only the SAM and leaf blower. Should be available in all modules.

in these conditions it is useless

To me, this would significantly increase the usage of the follow me feature.

When was the last time I bothered swapping to the SAM module?? Hmm. It’s been a while. I did use SAM and Follow Me last year when I was pulling a cart to pick up tree branches after doing some tree trimming work. It worked well, but of course Yarbo drives too slow.

Unfortunately I haven’t used the feature since. When I want Yarbo to quickly follow me while towing a cart or something, I’m not going to bother swapping modules to do that.

Unfortunately unless they add support for all the modules, I probably won’t be using Follow Me again any time soon.

That’s the same sentiment that I have as well. They’ve promised this for the M series, so I am hoping that means it will translate over for the Y as well. In theory it should, they share a code base.

Here is a video I took last year of Yarbo pulling a cart full of ‘tree’.

Interesting that Follow Me can do graceful arc turns but the normal planned navigation cannot.

Every plant or obstacle detects them like a person and stops…it’s absurd

Sorry for the inconvenience this has caused. The Follow Me mode is still in the beta stage, and we recognize that there is room for improvement.

At the moment, obstacle avoidance is not supported in this mode, so it does require some extra caution when in use. We truly appreciate your feedback and will continue to work on improving the experience.

Been a while since I’ve used the feature but perhaps a warning should be displayed before the feature activates so that people are aware of its limitations. IE no obstacle avoidance and it will follow the closest person it sees, etc.
