Original pathway logic followed strict adherence to keeping the rover within the pathway and only entering and exiting where the pathway starts and ends. At some point, this requirement was lifted and now the rover can enter and exit at any point along a pathway that is within a mapped area. I submit that this can be unexpected and lead to dangerous situations. If the end user is expecting the intuitive behavior of sticking to the safe corridor, they may be surprised when it deviates. I also submit that the laissez-faire entry and exit has its appeal and purpose as well. Please implement on a PER pathway basis a toggle to enable strict channel mode and make it the DEFAULT for new pathways.
Thanks for the suggestion — I completely understand your concern. I’ll share this with our product team for further consideration.
That would be a neat feature/function.
I do see advantages to both.
That would seem to imply a switch per pathway.
As winter hits, this has become a major problem for me. I had a sidewalk mapped in the front area of my house, and the charging pad was off to the side of that. I had a pathway that crossed the sidewalk and then into my yard for mowing.
When Yarbo ran the snow job, it went out into my yard and tried to blow my grass (tearing up the lawn) as it was working its way to the driveway.
I deleted the sidewalk and just mapped it as a regular area. It still crossed into the yard. So I remapped the pathway to only go into my sidewalk area, then into the driveway. A pain, yes, but at lest I got that figured out. It’d be really nice to have further controls on this, especially for areas that yarbo needs to keep off of during winter.
I still don’t understand why we can’t enable/disable pathways as part of a plan. I struggle with this as well.
Definitely another feature that has been asked to be added for a while.
So my Core had this very same reaction. I deleted the yard area it tried to cross into. Luckily I was running a dry run. So dry. @skylabz0rz
I have a similar issue when I tried to set up a sidewalk zone to snowblow the walkway to our front door. I created a pathway for Yarbo to follow to get to the sidewalk.
Everything was fine during testing over the summer when I set it up. But when I went to test it last week, Yarbo drove straight through my grass to get to the middle of the pathway, versus starting at the beginning of the pathway.
Makes me wonder if this is a new regression
When it did for me in conjunction with a pathway and a side walk and a “know area” it bugged out and blasted through the area. So I deleted, what is probably your mower area, and it never deviated again.
So I basically never gave it a second chance.
Hi there, sorry to hear about the routing issue, but I’m glad you found a workaround. I’ll share your case with our product team as feedback for route-calculation optimization.
