Superdocking coming soon…?

Several years ago I was told that superdocking was slated for beginning of 2026, and the 2026 release has been confirmed as the ideal deadline. The superdocking for the M series is almost certainly coming out this year, with the Y series possibly coming out as well. Superdocking, a large unit capable of automatically switching modules without human intervention will be a huge step towards total automation from Yarbo, and definitely another revolutionary feature that will push Yarbo to higher levels as a company at the pinnacle of innovation. This is huge, as many of us thought we would never see this come to fruition after it was not able to be ordered on kickstarter right off the bat, but this new news is very promising.

Candidly, superdocking is not viable for the Y series due to the module latching mechanism employed (among other things). I would not hold out hope that it will come to be.

As for the M series…. I know the module latching mechanism has been completely rethought and simplified. Maybe an automated system will eventually be released for M series. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Until they redesign the module connection method, which for the M series is identical to the Y series, I wouldn’t count on the super dock anytime soon. You’re more likely to see the granular spreader and liquid sprayer before the dock and both of those were put on hold indefinitely for now.

Yea, I neglected to mention the electrical connections on the M series because the CES machines were non final prototypes and most had no electronics inside at all.

That said, the working M series bot I looked at was using the same electrical connector, which would preclude any type of automated module switching.

I’ll be waiting for the 2037 model

In speaking with a representative of the company last week, I was told it was slated for a 2026 release sometime later in the year. That being said, it’s true, the latching mechanism is unfit. If I were to guess, they either will come out with an accessory of some sort that fits over the current mechanism and is compatible with superdocking, or that’s the “Pro Core” seen at a European trade show earlier this year which was insisted as being a prototype by Ken on his Reddit account. They were not able to divulge any information beyond the anticipated release date, and I would be surprised if they were even allowed to say anything about it at all. Yarbo has been getting better about the timing with announcing things lately, and not overpromising anywhere near as much as they used to, (they announced the M series a month before it’s going to preorder, not years before and selling it right away) so it may very well be coming out. I’m just as skeptical as the next guy, just a messenger.

@s.moz Did they mention anything about more timely software releases?

I’d think it would be easier to train Optimus, or Figure 3 to swap modules for us before a super dock becomes viable. Unless it’s a mini-heated shed it won’t be functional in winter and we don’t have vision navigation yet.
