It looks like a few people have noticed this in other threads, but I don’t see anyone addressing it yet. In the latest app version 3.18.1/3.18.2 the No Go Zone Templates are suddenly limited to a minimum size (when creating new) of 1.7ft radius for circles and similar for rectangles.
I am no longer able to make rectangles small enough for some of the posts in my yard. The only option appears to be leaving a large 3-4 ft area unmowed, even the trimmer won’t be able to handle this.
This is a fairly frustrating change and I hope it is reverted.
I believe this may be a bug on both fronts. However, I could’ve sworn that there was already a 1.7ft radius limit on templated NGZ’s for a really long time now.
Just because I planted some new grass recently and made a 3x1 NGZ, I know it worked in the 3.17.x version of the app.
it also appears to affect editing larger NGZs. I have a large NGZ (10x8ish) and I can no longer shrink it.
Nope, I brought this up in other No Go Zone thread, 12" Margin on NGZs - #15 by balmerjd . Before the most recent app update, you could make circular template NGZ down to a 1ft radius. After the update you can’t go below 1.7, though oddly a couple times after a lot of initial repeats trying to force it to go smaller, I did get a 1.6 a couple of times. But on the next attempt to make it smaller, it reverted to 1.7.
Sure smells like a software bug to me.
Yes, I think the bug was that this was allowed. I seem to recall this was specifically introduced a while ago.
Seems odd that we are saying the yarbo can’t get any closer than 3ish ft to something. Mine has been doing 1x3 and 1x2 squares fine. Now the smallest rectangle is 3.9x3.9 (or a really long 1ftx8ish ft) That’s a pretty drastic NGZ for something that is supposed to have centimeter accuracy.
I was perfectly content with the 1x1 square limitation before. it was enough that the trimmer could clean up. Now, it will leave multiple square feet of uncut grass that even with the trimmer won’t get and I will have to add more to manual clean up.
This is moving backwards in development.
I haven’t heard any official acknowledgement of an issue. I was seeing these larger gaps before the new firmware. I think some got broken in the winter update.
The minimum size limit for a No-Go Zone is 1 ft × 1 ft. I’ve also shared your feedback with our team.
Thank you! I really am hoping this is just a bug in the app.
