To buy or not buy

Down to the final hours on deciding to buy or not buy during the game day deals help push me one way or the other. Concerns are will it actually save me time after its set up properly or will I still spend more time per week messing with it than just cutting my grass with the zero turn. Does the pro mower have a good cut quality or does it just push the grass over more than it cuts it? Id buy the pro mower and snow blower combo, I do have plow on my truck if need be but i like how a blown driveway looks far more than a snow plow. My local yarbo dealer told me not to buy one because they still have too many problems but they were trying to push a Husqvarna on me instead. I have about 1.6 acres to mow weekly and entire backyard is a decent slope

Overall, I’ve been very happy with my Yarbo purchase.

I don’t own a Pro mower, just the normal one so I don’t have any direct experience with the Pro, but from what others have said, the Pro gets almost universal praise as compared to the standard mower.

Right now, it’s snowblower season here in Michigan, and Yarbo has literally done 100% of my snowblowing this year. Knock on wood. I did end up needing my snowblower module replaced due to a wiring issue, but the exchange process was pain free and pretty quick.

For mowing, Yarbo excels in acreage type scenarios. At least for me, it was ā€˜set it and forget it’. It’s not perfect in that it’s a big long heavy machine, so I don’t think it’s ideally suited for trying to wind around barriers and landscaping that a smaller more agile robot would be better at. It gets the job done, but I prefer using my Luba 2 robots for really super detail oriented finish work if that makes sense.

All in all, I’m extremely happy with it. In fact, I just bought the trimmer, so I’ll be using that soon as well.

Let me know if there’s anything else you’d like to know.

Hi there — thanks for sharing your thoughts. Once Yarbo is properly set up, it can truly help save you time by reducing the need for weekly manual mowing and snow removal.

You can see across the forum that the Pro mower performs especially well in tougher conditions, such as wet or thick grass, and provides a clean, consistent cut. A lawn size of 1.6 acres is well within the Pro mower’s capabilities.

As for terrain, Yarbo is designed to handle slopes of up to 35 degrees, so moderate to steep inclines should not be an issue.

If you have any other concerns or questions, please feel free to share them here — we’ll do our best to help.

For what it’s worth, after spending 10 years in commercial lawn care there is no machine I hate working on more than a mid-deck zero turn.

In 2016 I bought a brand new Ventrac with a 60 inch mower deck. In 2016 the tractor and mower deck were a $25K package.

I still have the Ventrac and use it as my personal tractor/mower. It currently has 600 hrs on it.

I pulled the trigger on Yarbo during their black Friday sale. I haven’t mowed with it yet, but I’m very happy so far with snowblower.

I’m also happy that I’m not lugging gas cans back and forth to fill my Ventrac. I would have to go through five or six gallons of fuel a week in the summer to mow, using non-oxygenated fuel, that’s 25 to $30 per week.

Can I say you’ll never have an issue with your Yarbo or never have to work on it, no. Is the setup the most intuitive thing I’ve ever done, no. But if you take the time to set it up correctly, think ahead of time about zones and mapping, and really understand what this machine is trying to do. You will be happy.

At the end of the day, who are we kidding, there is yet to be an outdoor piece of equipment that will never be down.

What is important is that you have support and a responsive OEM and dealer network, because you are going to have problems at some point.

The Yarbo so far has been very easy to work on. No special tools, jacks, or lifts needed to get to anything. I really enjoy that. I can literally flip the core on its side with one hand and change the tracks in a matter of minutes.

Based on the search results, here’s what we know about the Yarbo Pro mower’s cut quality:

  1. Generally Positive Feedback: The Yarbo Pro mower is described as having a ā€œclean, consistent cutā€ and is often praised for its performance, especially in tough conditions like wet or thick grass. Users report that it ā€œgets the job doneā€ and provides a good cut quality.
  2. Improvement Over Standard Model: The Pro model is generally considered superior to the standard mower. It’s noted that the Pro gets ā€œalmost universal praiseā€ compared to the standard model, which some users find less effective.
  3. Cut Quality Can Be Optimized: Some users have reported issues with the cut quality, but this is often attributed to settings. A common tip is to lower the cutting height (e.g., to 2.7" or 2.8") and adjust the speed. One user noted that the Yarbo was initially ā€œjust pushing the grass overā€ but achieved a proper cut after adjusting the settings.
  4. Potential for Clogging: There are mentions of potential clogging issues, especially with the blade guards. Some users have found that removing the blade guards improves cut quality and reduces clogging.
  5. Highly Effective on Large Areas: The Pro mower is particularly well-suited for larger areas (like the 1.6 acres mentioned in the original post), where its ability to handle tough conditions and provide a consistent cut is a significant advantage.

In summary, while there might be some initial learning curve or setup required, the Yarbo Pro mower is generally considered to have a high-quality, consistent cut, especially when compared to the standard model and when properly configured.

You might also find yourself just staring at it while it works…it can be very mesmerizing at times:sweat_smile::sweat_smile::sweat_smile::sweat_smile::sweat_smile: You might find the neighbors doing the same thing:grin: As an Engineer/Tech person I’ve had a lot of fun while setting up but also many frustrated moments. The community here and tech support have made it worthwhile. The kids often look for Yarbo, ask what he’s up to and sometimes like watching it work too:joy:

I tend to have the Yarbo app up on my Mac so I can watch the on board cameras as it works. It’s just cool to watch it doing its thing!

I do the same thing. Mostly as a tester, but damn it’s mesmerizing and fun. SmartVision in a work plan was one of my most favorite features to test. We tested it very early last year and they took it away for a while prioritizing some other things. I really missed it. So glad it’s in production now.

So that option is back now? I can watch it on my PC at work?

Yes, it’s super simple if you have a Mac. You can just install the Yarbo iPad app. The live video watching is called Smart Vision, and it’s available for everyone now.

You still need the Yarbo app which isn’t natively supported for Windows. You’d need an Android emulator for that.
