Buy a second mower module?

OK, I’m looking for a little advice. I’ve had the mower and core now for a year and a half, so it’s a 2024 Model. It’s the second mower module (first had issues so went back to Yarbo), and I’ve been having some jams and some downtime because of the jams. So I’m thinking of having a backup mower, and considering the Pro model to cut my 2 acres of mostly pasture grass. What is the current thinking on the Pro, is it worth it, especially for cutting “vacation grass” that hasn’t been mowed in a while? Will the Pro talk to the system, or is new firmware needed?

Now that the module is on Amazon, is there a reason not to do that?
Thanks for all the help!

Amazon.com: YARBO Robot Lawn Mower Pro Module : Patio, Lawn & Garden?

The pro is for sure a better mower and can cut taller grass that you are talking about. The pro will act just like your current mower, just swap modules and it will cut with the same maps and settings as your other mower module.

Depending on your yard you may have to play with a few settings like ultrasonic sensors and moderate bypass setttings to fine tune it in.

Can confirm, have both and easy to switch between the two. Does cut/mulch better but still not to the level of a regular mower so you still need to mow more frequently. Pine cones get stuck in it really bad and the guards are more difficult to remove for some reason (haven’t tried taking mine off yet).

Pro mower is awesome for tough and tall “vacation” grass. The regular mower I think does have a better cut if doing proper maintenance cuts. But, I have no issues running the pro mower all the time, even if it’s been weeks of not mowing. Had a stick jam once or twice in the guards, but nothing that isn’t manageable.

As for Amazon, I would recommend buying direct from Yarbo. While it is Yarbo selling on Amazon, I’ve heard somethings like the extended warranty are not purchasable from Yarbo if you buy through Amazon. So, you’d need to buy Amazon’s warranty, if that’s something you want.

The Pro looks awesome, but do not buy it until everyone has stopped complaining in the most recent firmware / hotfix thread.

Just sayin.

Steve, Would you mind pointing to that thread?

Bmod, Brian and Aliane, thank you for responding. The cut on those razor blades is really awesome on a pasture, but probably overkill and definitely tough to maintain through rainy periods and time off. Sometimes it seems like the grass grows overnight here in the Pacific Northwest. Also I need to have a backup when not if the mower goes down for repair or maintenance.
Thanks again!

Rain/wet and thick grass is the enemy of the M1. The MPro does handle those situations extremely well. There are quite a few posts on here and the FB groups about “waiting for blades to get to speed” error messages with the pro right now. Unclear what the actual issue is, whether it is software or hardware I think is still trying to be pinned down.

Thanks Bryan, don’t do fakebook, so appreciate the reporting. I do wish the software was as good as the hardware. I can get Yarbo to do stuff manually, that the firmware, even after 1.5 years, won’t do. Sad to leave that much potential on the table.

Just for clarity, you are talking about the extended warranty, but the original 2 year warranty is still through Yarbo, even if purchased through Amazon. On the website Amazon states, "
Please contact the seller directly for warranty information for this product. You may also be able to find warranty information on the manufacturer’s website. "

Correct, the extended warranty. Yarbo should honor the sale on Amazon for the normal 2 year warranty.

Thank you!

I think the only downside of the pro is how more battery it’s uses up. I have a few areas I can mow in one charge no issue with the M1 the makes a bit more than half way.

Th ultrasonic sensors pick up everything as obstacles so they have to be off, especially if mowing near tall grass. I mow along old hay fields and it was picking up everything. Camera does too from time to time. I run some of my areas strictly in bump mode. I have a bunch of pasture I mow with the pro it does great. Sometimes I do with it was easier to switch the heads out so I could easily mow the yard with the M1 I do think the more it maintains it’s cut is nicer.

I’ve only had a few stuck items it’s not bad to clear out. Blades seem to last a long time between sharpening.

Overall it’s great once you get it dialed in.

Thanks Tallman,
I’m only cutting a couple acres, so I think we are ok for battery juice. If I don’t have to spend an hour or two a day clearing jams, there will be more charging time! I cut right next to pastures that are cut with brush cutters, and there are huge clumps of hay left to multch, so that is a big hazard.
Also I noticed on the Pro pages, Yarbo says "

Will the Yarbo Lawn Mower Pro face clogging issues?

No. The straight blades virtually eliminate clogging, and the redesigned disc system significantly reduces it. Blades rotate outward to eject cut grass efficiently, and the simplified deck structure prevents buildup. This automatic lawn mower powers through dense grass and heavy debris without stalling—ensuring uninterrupted autonomous operation.
"
So that is a big selling point for me.

Nothing worse than taking two thousand dollars out of a cardboard box to find that there’s a firmware glitch, or the app won’t let you adjust height, etc.

Yarbo will figure it out, but I’m not sure you want to burn warranty months while you wait.

Up and down work you just need to tap the shit out of the button

Yarbo software for the win?

If you are interested in a second regular mower, I have one I would sell as I am upgrading to pro.
