Toggle modes for yarbo with attachment missing

Around seasonal swapping periods it would be nice to be able to modify aspects of plans with the associated module not attached. For example, when the mower is attached letting the app enter “snow blower mode” to draw / edit areas or toggle settings so we don’t have to swap modules to prepare for a season.

This would be useful for “edit map” mode if a tag is placed on a driveway for snowblower, to let the edit of that area be focused to “snowblower” even if the active module is not the snow blower

Yeah, this is a little confusing. Yarbo now allows us to tag each area for a module, like “Mower”. But when I put the snowblower on, it now asks me how fast to run the snow auger in those mowing areas. Seems sloppy because it should be an easy software fix.

I guess my viewpoint is a little different. If the area isn’t tagged for the current attachment I don’t think other attachment settings should be displayed/enabled at all. I understand why you would want to map with the appropriate module attached.

I haven’t given this much thought so there could be issues I haven’t contemplated. I did find it confusing when I switched from mower to snow blower.

You could possibly need it to leave a dock in the back yard and find its way to the front yard (snow blowing a path) to clean the driveway. And then the same on its way back. Sure, you could make a dedicated pathway, but if you don’t need to, why not? I think the labels and filters will expand eventually. I certainly hope they do. There are definitely areas that don’t make sense for the snow blower in my yard, but there are some where it might have to travel through to get to where I need it to go. I like options. I think the customization they offer is one of their strengths. Would love to see that expand more for advanced users but strike that balance with simplicity for users who do want or need that level of configurability.

I would agree, except when you use their tags. If you want an area configuable (or as JNS said, viewable) then tag it for a particular module. Otherwise leave it untagged in your scenario. Otherwise, what’s the use of the tags?

Well as implemented, it’s just a map view filter. So the current use case is to declutter the map for the specific season. But it doesn’t eliminate any of those areas for the season. They are all still there, even if not displaying. You also can’t tag pathways, sidewalks, etc to have them removed. I personally like one map view. But I can see the utility of having a dedicated map for each module or season. I’d certainly not want to have to remap though for the blower when I could just use my snow blower area for the driveway or the mower areas. Definitely the feature still needs some tweaks.

@marriott001 Thanks for sharing your idea! Since the mower and snow blower modules are quite different in size and functionality, we recommend setting things up after the corresponding module is installed. This way, Yarbo can better plan and execute tasks for each module, ensuring everything runs smoothly.

Hope this little tip helps! Feel free to share any other thoughts or questions with us anytime.
