Work Area Mapping: Vector Line Boundary Segments

During a work area mapping operation, I would find it extremely helpful to perhaps have a button on the app that says start / end border straight segment. Here’s what I mean:

  • Start a work area
  • Map all the twists and turns where they may apply
  • Get to the beginning of a long straight segment
(could be property line, driveway, etc.)
  • Click start border line
As you drive Yarbo, it rubber band stretches to where it is going
  • Click end border / resume mapping
The vector endpoint anchors, then resumes mapping the rest of the lawn shapes
  • Click next at the end and you have a mapped area
Since the app computes straight lines when doing the route preview, maybe that logic can be reused to help with the vector rubber banding line creation.

Thanks!

They’ve mentioned previously that there will be a way to direct edit the map and straighten lines out and some other mapping enhancements. Might help here. Not sure when that might be released though.

See Make straight lines during mapping activities and Create or edit work areas on the map .

Also, this rubber band logic is in place today for the last segment of a work area (polygon). I make sure whatever line I want straight to make as the last segment of the work area.

I do the same thing. The last segment I map is always the longest straight line I can make.

I would like to use this feature for big rectangles or other objects with multiple straight lines.

Hi there—thanks for the thoughtful suggestion! We’ve received similar requests and already have a design in place for a straight-line drawing feature.
