Work Preferences --> Adaptive Slope

@Yarbo-Forum How about an update on this “temporary” switch in Work Preferences? When introduced LAST year, it was just a stopgap until other features were implemented. It never worked and is still there today. It’s been turned OFF in my preferences since, yet it still HEAVILY throttles it’s speed on slopes.

I asked about this recently too and this is what I was told:

Even when Adaptive Slope is turned off, Yarbo will still reduce its speed on steeper slopes as part of its built-in safety design. This is intended to help maintain stability and traction while operating on inclines. In other words, disabling Adaptive Slope doesn’t completely disable speed reduction on slopes. The safety-related slowdown is still applied when needed.

Interesting response given that this is exactly what the switch is supposed to do. So they made it permanent? Have you seen that the switch does anything at this point? I haven’t tried.

My second comment for @Yarbo-Forum would be that speed throttling engages on incredibly minimal slopes that don’t require it.

Never got a response to my follow-up question to what it actually does. As far as I can tell the only thing it may do is not do a speed up to maintain traction going uphill. Have not verified this.

Hi there,

First, as Bryan mentioned, Yarbo has a default speed control logic based on slope detection, regardless of whether the Adaptive Slope toggle is enabled or not.

Under the default logic, Yarbo adjusts its speed based on a fixed coefficient related to the detected slope angle. When the Adaptive Slope option is enabled, Yarbo adjusts the speed based on a dynamic coefficient instead.

Therefore, when the slope is not steeper than around 20 degrees, you may not notice much difference whether Adaptive Slope is turned on or off. However, as the slope becomes steeper, the difference between the two modes will become more noticeable.

Currently, we do not have a plan to change this logic, but I’ll continue to follow up on your feedback and discuss your suggestions with our product team.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and helping us improve the experience.
