Worn out caster wheel bearings

Looks like I am victim to the worn out mower caster wheel bearings. One is quite a bit looser than the other, but they both have play. I mow about 4 acres.

You guys might want to keep an eye on these wheels. I just opened a ticket so Yarbo can address this for me.

I mow 6 acres. My casters clog up avery few days. What clogs is the top swivel, and the wheels get locked in one direction making it hard for yarbo to make turns. Is this what is happening to you? I can swivel, rinse, and lube them to free them for a few more days, but they allways lock back up.

The actuall wheel bearing is worn out, whole wheel wobbles.

They don’t seem to be the most robust of casters. But so far they have held up in my lawn. Knock on wood!

I’ve been watching this as well. Mine are good. In the pics I’ve seen, the failures look like the caster is getting stuck perpendicular to it’s rolling direction and getting yanked back and forth as the rover tries to free itself, maybe on a tree root or some other raised area.

Mine are for sure worn out, bearing issues, they sound bad when spun also.

I feel like dusty/sandy/gritty areas are more prone to causing these failures. So far mine have held up well since November.

I’ve reviewed your support ticket and apologize for the earlier response you received. I’ve asked our support team to escalate your case, as the amount of play in the caster wheel you described is not normal.

We’ll continue to follow up with you through the support ticket. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

Understood that your case might be different. How often are you washing the underside of the mower deck?

Probably less than one a month. I have probably only washed it 3 times so far. I usually just scrape out the deck weekly.

I have the same issue, any way you could support?

Saw a lot of issues with those wheels (among other things on these devices). I started adding grease at the same time I grease the tracks. For now no issue… I wonder if we can get these machine to work for 4 years +…

Could you please submit a support ticket regarding the issue? It would be helpful if you could attach any relevant videos to assist our product team in further investigating the issue. Thank you for your understanding!

@arojandro and @Micke are you guys in sandy areas? I honestly haven’t had any issues with the casters. I really thought I would when I first saw them, but so far so good for me….

No. Just lots of dirt and I mow quite low (4cm) and often. The wheels are always jammed and the right one often stuck. But this is a minor problem IMO. When I walk pass the charger I remove the dirt around the wheels and tracks. The first time it happened I used WD40 to help remove everything and then I’ve put SuperLube. Since then, no issue. But I am not surprised, it also happened with my former Husqvarna. Had to change the two front wheels for a similar issue… I much prefer this than to have a motor heigh issue (which I don’t!)

Just cleaned my deck last night and the casters look fine as well. Been watching them closely after seeing pics of the self-disassembled ones.

My turn. 4 acres and they lasted 2-1/2 months. Bearings gone. I noticed a lot more track slippage in areas I’d never seen it before. I clean the deck every 2-weeks or after a known wet mow. It made no difference. This wheel configuration is clearly not up to the task. Ticket # #113479

Well crap…

Support is sending new ones. Not sure if they’ve improved the design yet.

I couldn’t wait 10-days for new ones. Like others have posted, the Amazon shopping cart wheels are a perfect fit and much quieter than the originals. Link below.

I’ll see if I can find out what wheels we used at the Hospital in the Med washers. We had to change out all the push carts that went into the washers. Because of the High water temps. It was heated with steam up to 210 degrees. They would sit for hours washing all the different med tools, then dry like a huge dishwasher. Over, and over again. Lots of weight, and water. They had sealed bearings. The one that came with them would lock down in just a couple of weeks. We just interchanged with the standard wheels that came on the stainless steels HD carts. We got them from Grainger.
