2+ homes (1 data center per home) and 1 Yarbo!

Is it feasible to create a solution for people with 2+homes. You may find Yarbo owners live in one place in the summer and one place in the winter. That said. It would be nice if you could have Yarbo recognize 2 data centers. 1 for each home. When you turn yarbo on. It recognizes what data center it is connected to and then pulls the associated maps for that data center. This way you can map once and let yarbo do what it does best!

I have seen quite a few requests for multi home support. I think this would be a good way to achieve that. In the interim, you can get another data center (one for each property) and I believe Yarbo could clone them to use the same SSID. Then you could map one property and back it up. Do the other property and back it up. Then you can restore the maps for each property when you’re there.

We could really use support for multiple map areas. I have a couple different properties I’ve mapped within range of the datacenter but don’t use 90%+ of the time. I have a little trailer I drive Yarbo onto and cart it over to do some work and then bring it back home later.

Edit: and area settings need to be saved too!

Thanks for sharing your expectations for Yarbo. We understand that this would be a very useful feature for users who own multiple properties or live in different locations throughout the year. Your idea of allowing Yarbo to recognize and switch between multiple data centers with associated maps is clear and well thought out. I’ll be sure to pass this feedback to our product team so they can evaluate its feasibility for future development.

I strongly second this. I have 2 properties that are 19 miles apart. I have eventual plans for a second core to make managing them easier. I would like the ability to do any of the following:

  1. Be able to have a data center at both properties and freely move one or more cores back and forth
  2. Be able to gang mow properties with both cores on the same property mowing different work zones
  3. Be able to have a core on each property working
  4. Possibly use NTRIP on either property (or at least on the farm site)
I’m trying to figure out the most efficient way to utilize both Yarbo to maintain both properties.

Notes on the larger farm property:
It is almost 20 acres with 6’ish cleared and mow-able acres. It is our farm and future house site. At the current time, it is off grid. It serves as our honey bee apiary for now. There are no utilities or network resources yet.

My plan for the near term is to transport one or both cores to the farm while we are out there working bees. The Yarbo/s can be mowing while we’re working. At the end of the work day, we drive the Yarbo/s up the ramp of the bee truck (The “BeeHemoth”) and go home. We might consider installing an internet service device in the bee truck and keep a data center on-site in the bee yard that would get power and network from a tether cord from the truck when we arrive (power bank and satellite or cellular WiFi).

Later, we plan to have a 12’x40’ barn shed there. We’ll add solar panels, a big power bank, some kind of internet service, and a garage door opener that could be operated remotely with home assistant or an app. There, at least one Yarbo can live and charge. We can deploy him remotely in the early morning while we prepare to drive to the farm for bee work. This way, he is protected when off-duty, and if he gets hung up, we’ll be there later to resolve any issues. This widens the service window so he can accomplish more. Mowing that farm is time consuming and costs money for fuel and trailer rental for our tractor. It is a whole ordeal that I can make more efficient with one or more Yarbo/s.

Once we have the house built, things will get a bit easier with utilities and network available full time on site.

I would appreciate anything that can be done to evolve the site portability aspect of Yarbo operations.

Thank You,

Hi PropellerHead, not related to Yarbo, but Honey bees. I had three hives for the past five years as a hobby, but the bees keep dying on me in the winter. I’m in NH. Do you sell any Packages? just curious. Thanks
