3 D printed Mulching/cutting discs

Printing now :smiling_face_with_sunglasses: The coolest.

At the 40 - 45 min. of annealing you can literally see the disc shrink.

Cool. I’m so easily amused

The nut seating is more challenging with the annealed plastic. I used a heated Allen key, the same size as the nut to make an imprint.

These are the latest version. Available for free on Thingiverse. Someone local could likely print them for you.

I shipped them yesterday Peter.

Thanks Dave! I will report back after the first run! Excited to test them out.

Good evening, where in Ontario are you located? I am in Sudbury but travel the province for work , I would be interested in buying/ trying a set of these baby’s !!

I sent you a private message.

I updated the Thingiverse files with a insert compatible version.

OUTSTANDING! This is exactly what I was waiting for. I got my insert delivered a couple days ago in anticipation of exactly this. I will be away for a few days after which I’ll be printing-n-annealing these. Super excited.

THANK YOU!!!

Peter used them yesterday on his 1.5 acre yard. He says they cut well and mulched well.

I hope they work as well for you :slightly_smiling_face:

Dave

I’ll report back here. It will be a few weeks due to some conflicting priorities. Who knows by then you’ll have yet another impressive version ready for field testing. :slightly_smiling_face:

Lol. I think I’m done with this.

 But who knows.

Lol :joy:

That looks great!!

Wonderful job!

Yes, I did use them and they work great. My lawn is large with some roots coming above ground. Mulching works great and after the first run there is no damage and the edges of the plastic blades are sharp and no chips at all. Big improvement compared to the standard. Thanks Dave!

Hey all.

If you insert threaded fasteners or nuts I suggest you place them prior to annealing. The shrinkage and hardening of the plastic should hold them more securely.

Dave

If you insert an M4 x H8 you can use stock bolts.

THANK YOU! I was wondering which insert would allow using the stock bolts.
