Ask Me Anything. I’m Allen, CEO and Founder of Yarbo

Hi,

Thanks for your brilliant idea! Currently, we do not have plans for a mower mount similar to the BBM. We completely understand your desire to mow, blow, trim, and edge without constantly swapping modules. During the development phase of the trimmer, we did consider the option of attaching the trimmer to the lawn mower module. However, this could lead to an increased risk of edge collisions compared to our current design. Additionally, the current design allows those who don’t have a lawn mower module to still use the trimmer, which is another reason for the design choice.

We will certainly pass along your feedback to our product department, as we understand this may reflect the needs of many users.

As for the possibility of flipping the trimmer head upwards for manual edging, we’re sorry that the current design does not support this function. However, we truly appreciate your input on improving the Yarbo mowing system to make it more autonomous and reduce the hassle of changing between modules.

Thank you for your input!

Hi,

We’re very sorry for the inconvenience you’ve experienced, and we truly appreciate you taking the time to share your concerns. We’d like to be fully transparent and address each of the issues you’ve mentioned:

Accessory Availability:
The delay in accessory availability, such as cutting discs, is due to a temporary lack of local warehouse stock. We sincerely apologize for underestimating the demand. We’ve now adjusted our stocking plans to ensure better availability and prevent similar situations in the future.

Issue Returning to Docking Station and Charging:
This issue requires further investigation. We’ve forwarded your support ticket to our technical team and marked it as a priority. They will work to identify the root cause and provide you with a solution as soon as possible.

Navigating Around Non-Existent Obstacles:
Our current system uses a combination of image segmentation and point cloud technology to detect and avoid obstacles. In some cases, the system may misidentify elements like shadows as obstacles. We are actively training and improving the vision recognition system and will continue optimizing it throughout the mowing season.

Moving Outside of Known Areas:
This behavior can be caused by several factors. In some cases, GPS positioning inaccuracies can cause the robot’s real location to differ from its mapped position. In other cases, Yarbo may unintentionally enter a no-go zone while trying to navigate around an obstacle. We recommend updating your support ticket with details of this issue—especially timestamps—so our team can review the logs and investigate further.

We hope this helps clarify your concerns. If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out here in the forum or directly through support. We’re always here to help.

Hi Brian,
Thank you for your question!
One major advantage of the Yarbo Lawn mower is its programmability and precision. Unlike traditional gasoline mowers, which require manual adjustments and often result in inconsistent cuts and noise, the Yarbo Lawn mower can be programmed to cut exactly one-third of the grass height each time, promoting optimal lawn health with minimal effort. The Yarbo Lawn mower provides precise, consistent cutting without the need for constant manual intervention, helping maintain a healthier lawn overall.

To get the best quality of cut with your Yarbo Lawn mower, here are a few tips:

Blade Maintenance: Keep the blades sharp and balanced for clean cuts. We recommend replacing the cutting blades every three months, or more frequently if you mow regularly.

Mowing Height: Set the mowing height according to your grass type and the season. Avoid cutting the grass too short to maintain its health.

Mow in Dry Conditions: Wet grass can clog the mower and affect cutting performance, so it’s best to mow when the grass is dry.

Regular Cleaning: Clean the mower regularly, particularly the underside, to remove any grass buildup and maintain its efficiency.

I hope this answers your question. If you need any further assistance, feel free to reach out.

We’ve passed your suggestion about adding the ability to blank to the left and/or right to our product department for further consideration.

Thank you again for sharing your thoughts with us!

@Yarbo-Forum - I found issues with Buried Pathways and Hidden Sidewalks on these types of complex “layered” maps. I imagine these will be additional useful test cases.

  • Buried Pathways: That big mowing Area has some snowblower Pathways underneath (you can see them going off to the right in my earlier map picture). The Pathways don’t have any endpoints in the big mowing Area. When the rover is doing a Work Plan in the big mowing Area and needs to navigate or just move from one place to another within the big mowing Area, the rover seems to somehow notice and follow a buried Pathway for a short while. The rover does get to where it wants to go, so this one isn’t really that bad. I just noticed this behavior while the rover was working and the rover wanted to scoot across the big mowing Area.

  • Hidden Sidewalks: This one is a bit worse, as the cause is not obvious. I have a new Area for the mower with some new No-go Zones and tried to do a Work Plan Preview. I kept getting “The endpoint of a sidewalk or pathway is inside a No-go Zone.” There are no Pathways as such, and all the Sidewalks are hidden because this is the mower. Then I remembered I have two old snowblower Sidewalks that do go near and maybe into that new No-go Zone I just drew up. I disabled the No-go Zone, and the error went away. It would appear that the these hidden Sidewalks are impacting functionality, and you cannot see exactly what unless you remember your map from the snowblower. The picture for this is below. The yellow paths are the Sidewalks.

Hi, thanks for bringing these cases to our attention! Both issues you’re experiencing with the Buried Pathways and Hidden Sidewalks are actually related to the same root cause: the paths from other modules (such as pathways, sidewalks, and patrol routes) are being mistakenly used by the current module. This is a known bug, and we’re actively working on a fix. We plan to address this in the next hotfix release. We really appreciate your patience and understanding as we work on improving this!
