Ask Me Anything. I’m Allen, CEO and Founder of Yarbo

That’s all the time we have for today’s AMA.

For any questions we didn’t get to, our team will follow up directly in the coming days.

We’re learning and growing every day, and your input plays a big part in shaping the future of Yarbo. Looking forward to our next AMA—and to continuing this conversation with all of you.

+1 for more robust, heavy duty blades, the disks are just too flimsy and stand in no relation to yarbo heavy duty vibe.

Please do not forget your early supporters over here in Europe!
All the talk of future upgrades to more power, less noise (my neighbors already mentioned that it is quite loud) and all the other hardware upgrades/revisions do leave me thinking and fearing whether this will be the 2023 (kickstarter) to 2024 upgrade-story all over again. I supported you on kickstarter chose the upgrade path. Had to pay for gardening for almost 2 years because of the delays. Now people getting deals for upgrading from 2023 to 2024 (for 400$), do I understand that correct?

Yarbo is doing mostly fine(ish) but it is far away from what you guys promised and are still promising in your ads. See posts above and my post when it flipped over because of no rear cameras.

I mentioned a counterweight over a month ago in one of my ongoing support tickets, just got the standard response, now you are telling us you guys are working on it, please send it over and let me test it for you, my whole area is sloped between 0 and 30-35°. Yarbo is doing well downhill (besides braking) but really struggles going uphill in reverse.

Thanks for answering our questions here this morning. I look forward to more Yarbo improvements.

What is the capacity of the granular spreader that will be released later?

Will yarbo ever offer a mower deck/upgrade that will have traditional mower blades vs the razor blade styles?

When will the cameras in the back of the core be used for obstacle avoidance? Currently yarbo will go around a no-go-zone, but then will back into the zone when handling another no-go-zone.

Can there be an option for the user to direct yarbo to mow a particular way/direction for spots on the map by driving yarbo? Instead of just depending on yarbo to handle the problem area on it’s own? Example : A person drives/maps yarbo to mow a spot on the map a certain way by operating yarbo’s every move. Yarbo then retains every move that was made for that spot, & mimics every move the owner had it do from then on for that area.

Will the modules be able to do cross functionality? Example : mower & blower modules doing some of the smart module features.

Good morning,
We are on our 3rd core. We love the idea of worry free lawn and snow care, however, when the need is there yarbo keeps breaking

  1. 1st yarbo tred motors stopped working and the sher pins broke extremely quickly. So we bought the plow blade but that stopped working when the motors stopped turning. So then a large snow storm came and no yarbo as the replacement hadn’t arrived yet.
  2. When the replacement did arrive we had to remap the whole area in the snow storm with below freezing temperatures.
  3. Then yarbo 2 the mother board fried. Another snow storm and to yarbo.
  4. 3rd yarbo arrived. Mind you this is not just a2 week turn around. This takes lots of trouble shooting. And each time we have to remap. This is very time consuming. Why can’t Yarbo use the original map when the docking station hasn’t moved? Just save the map in our app.
  5. So then the company comes out with a solution to the motherboard with a coating. We still have not received the coating. How are we to protect our very expensive purchase?
  6. Then it’s mowing season. The disc’s are plastic??? These broke after the 2nd run with Yarbo. Not just the blades but the plastic. And guess what. No parts are available right now so now we are stuck yet again with out being able to use Yarbo and even though we bought the disc’s while in stock they are not been shipped. They need to be more durable and metal.
  7. Then when out on patrol the obstacles avoidance was not applicable for the face mount.. so it ran into my truck breaking the antennas. These did get replaced but why can’t the antennas be flexible? Or more dome shape to allow for limbs to simply bump over.
  8. Then its a concern about the warranty running out. We are on our 3rd core and our warranty is about to expire. With this many issues we want to buy the extended warranty for sure to protect our investment.
  9. The biggest problem is your shipping. It was understandable when it first came out to wait over 7 months but now these parts, coatings solution and working through support takes so much time that Yarbo is just waiting to work. Please review all these concerns as it’s a long list but amen Yarbo work it’s amazing! We just want it to work.

I agree with your concerns. I just wanted to point out that your warranty should be good for 2 years from the date of activation of the core. An extended warranty is something they are evaluating and I am sure will offer at some point. My guess would be closer to when the 2 year warranties are about to expire. Just a theory on that last part. I will buy it the day it is released as long as it is affordable and reasonably priced. Their current warranty and support are very good, but it does take time for a small company to navigate the logistics challenges and supplier/supply chain issues. They don’t have a lot of weight to move some of these other companies like the bigger companies do.

You are correct on the 2 year warranty. But with the down time and from activation is my concern. It was activated months before receiving it and with our current trend is the concern is all.

That activation date is not accurate and you can contact support for them to correct it. It’s typically when they fire it up at the factory to test it. They have the correct date, as you should have gotten an email for the core and the modules when you activated them.

That’s good to know! Thank you!

Sorry Jay, I’m not sure you replied to the correct person. I’m not talking about different experiences or unique cases. I’m talking about completely false statements that need to be corrected on the website:

  1. Yarbo doesn’t have radar.
  2. Yarbo does not have a 3500 lbs pulling force. As said in today’s answers, it shouldn’t pull above 500 lbs.
  3. Yarbo does not tow tools autonomously. (This feature is still being implemented.)
  4. Yarbo does not stay within its bounds, even in the most common cases (like a right angle inner corner or no-go zones).

Thank you for hosting this forum, it is appreciated. I would like to echo a few points made here this morning. The tech support for the 23 module is very difficult. The return/shipping support is almost non-existent here in the US. I have a faulty module in my basement for almost 9months . It’s a shame to see this waste for the Yarbo company. My 23 unit has been continuously plagued with GPS issues this season and the time it takes to troubleshoot the issue is extreme. This is a large monetary investment for us all, and as an early backer of your company, I want to see the company succeed. Please, keep improving customer service and basic support. Thank you all for your continued hard efforts in a solid product.

Hi and thanks for hosting this AMA.

I would love to know if Yarbo has any plans for an attachment like a sickle bar mower?

With disappearing bio diversity, letting your grass grow taller and giving bees and other insects some much-needed respite, a lot of people in my vicinity only cut the grass a few times every summer.

A front attached sickle bar would be a real game changer for this kind of grass.

Thank you.

Hi, Thank you for your continued interest and support. We truly appreciate users like you who care deeply about the evolution of Yarbo.

To answer your question: yes, many of the upgraded components, such as the enhanced blades, disks, and other accessories, are being designed with backward compatibility in mind and will be compatible with Yarbo 2024 models. Additionally, the 2024 Core is fully compatible with upcoming modules for at least the next five years.

We’re committed to doing everything we can to make upgrade kits available to current users wherever technically feasible. That said, in cases where improvements involve major internal changes—such as to motors, structural components, or internal electronics—those upgrades may not be retrofittable to earlier models. These types of updates are part of the natural and necessary evolution of intelligent hardware products.

Please know that we stand firmly behind our users and are always working to improve both product experience and long-term support. If you ever need more details or would like to discuss specific upgrade possibilities, feel free to reach out—We’re more than happy to assist.

Hi,

Thanks for your suggestion. We’ve also received similar requests about using the “Follow-Me” mode for mapping new areas. Based on our initial evaluation, the performance of the “Follow-Me” mode during the mapping process isn’t quite as reliable as using the controller, especially when it comes to handling turns.

As a result, we’ve put this request on hold for now, but it remains on our list. We’re hopeful that, once the “Follow-Me” mode is further optimized, we can revisit this feature and improve its performance for mapping.

Thanks again for your input, and we appreciate your patience as we work on enhancing the feature!
