It’s only common because there is a bad batch of belts or something that was installed on some of the newer units. This was not a common problem last year at all. Still have my original belt for over a year now.
Did I see a post where someone dropped a video on how to replace the belt?
Right there with you. Shear pins and belt broke. I’ve run the blower several times. It sounds very different, hopefully the belt is the only issue.
Received some weird message that it’s been escalated and sounds like they need to verify I bought the unit since I bought it on Amazon. Why would anyone make up the support tickets or the issues and frustrations for a belt to a blower that’s proprietary?
You’d be surprised what people try and get away with. I’m sure it’s just standard procedure to ensure that the unit is eligible for warranty coverage when it wasn’t bought direct from the Yarbo website.
I’m not sure, the ask for information about then our base if it was from their site, too. It’s like they have no record of anything?
Maybe you are using two different email addresses and they are just looking to validate you are who you claim to be? Dunno, just guessing here. Maybe @Yarbo-Forum could help shed some light on it for you.
That’s exactly what the issue was with me Bryan. Email addresses didn’t line up as I purchased through a distributer but didn’t go through him with my issue. Good call
It’s been about 24 hours since I’ve heard back from support. And now I’m seeing people post on the Facebook group with the same belt issue. Is this becoming a widespread issue? Has anyone else gotten better response from support on this?
Just heard back. Case being escalated. Hopefully I can get a replacement in a decent time frame.
I had a similar instance. Got Yarbo in the garage and checked out the unit (quick look) and didn’t see any issue, opened a ticket.
Next day I took a closer look:
Updated my ticket asking for replacement belt. I’m thinking if this is a bad batch of belts, will the replacement be from the same batch? I found this online as a precautionary step. https://www.gprindustrial.com/en/5mm-pitch-5m-timing-belts/9979-515-5M-25-htd-timing-belt.html I have no affiliation with this company and this is the first time dealing with them.
Still happy with the purchase.
Wow. Looks like yours flat out melted!
Does it look like the metal was stripped out of the belt?
Yes, almost like the end of the metal support braid got caught and peeled off around the motor gear.
I didn’t catch it at first look because the “top” of the belt looked whole from that quick look.
Well there’s your problem…..
Nice pictures that definitely show the end result. @Yarbo-Forum the rest it up to you.
I’m in the process of getting S1 replaced-not belt related. However, I may strip off my belt before sending my original S1 back. There seems to be a bad batch of belts circulating.
Good idea
The belt part number is S5M 515 103Z. I got mine through Amazon, though I think any timing belt will work. I also think this is one of the spare parts owners should have on hand, or should be part of a Yarbo “spare parts kit” if they ever offer one.
To get the belt off, remove the 5 screws that can be seen from the smaller cog bracket, and LOOSEN the 6th hidden one in the corner. Slide the piece of bracket under the large cog to get space. Reverse to put it back. Doesn’t seem to need to be crazy snug, just reasonably.
If you ever have to replace the belt, the one thing that is likely to go through your mind is that Yarbo never intended a user to do this.
Yeah it’s got to just be a batch of bad belts. I put the one from my old blower on and it’s still going strong, knock on wood
