Please include a bluetooth enable and disable toggle in the app. Bluetooth is inherently very laggy. Especially at a distance, and the core has an impressive bluetooth connection distance. Please don’t change that! However, I find I often have to disable Bluetooth on my phone to work around this lag issue to have the best in app experience as well as no lag when using the in app controller. This is important because you do not want lag or delay when controlling your Yarbo manually. Additionally, some phones and devices just inherently have bluetooth connectivity issues.
For the work around or disabling bluetooth on your phone, well there are many reasons that this is a problem for end users. One of the reasons mentioned in last nights User Insights Chat on Discord was diabetic device monitoring stops working. Headphones and other bluetooth devices are also unavailable.
I propose that this only applies to the app and does not disable bluetooth on the core. It should have the following settings:
Default mode (Auto) - Automatically connect to the core VIA bluetooth when a network connection to the core is unavailable.
ON (a possible troubleshooting option, if deemed necessary) - Always on, will not attempt a network connection to the core.
OFF - Bluetooth is always off and will not connect to the core. If a network connection is unavailable, the app will ask if you want to enable bluetooth.
Thanks for sharing this thoughtful and detailed suggestion. We really appreciate you explaining the use cases and challenges in such depth. I’ve passed your feedback along to our product team for consideration.
OK today this did some serious damage…the garage door needs an update anyways, but still…bluetooth was super laggy today and I was on a call on my bluetooth headphones so I couldn’t turn bluetooth off. GPS also isn’t working for me…tried rebooting the core and DC no dice…had to clear the driveway manually#firstworldproblems
Really sorry to hear about this—that must have been a frustrating experience, especially with the damage involved.
We also understand thepoint about having a Bluetooth toggle in the app, especially in situations like this where lag can impact manual control. Your feedback is noted and appreciated.
Regarding the GPS issue, I was able to locate your support ticket in our system. Our support team is already looking into it and will follow up with you shortly to help get this resolved.
Thanks for your patience, and please don’t hesitate to share any additional details that might help with the investigation.
I got it working again, I swapped around RTK antennas and remembered I had a couple spares, no real signs of damage to the RTK but replacing one of them got me back up and running. Here’s a daytime picture, it was stuck reversing for what felt like hours, it was probably 10 seconds or less.
