The zigzag or normal paths do not extend into the boundary laps. I really thought that was part of the reasoning.
Maybe I’m off here, but I think it would be best that it extends into the laps, both boundary and ngz. On my old mower it really helped to get some of those missed turn misses and also made for good presentation.
It used to always go to the 1st perim lap, early last year I think. I prefer it the way it is now since it lets me vary the turnaround points by changing the perimeter lap count. I can see your point as well though. Maybe a switch to enable/disable this behavior? Flexibility is always best.
I use the rounds to also cover up the turnarounds as well. In many cases it just looks more finished. As others have pointed out I would expect it to go into the first perimeter and I certainly thought it used to do that. For me a 3-12 inches more on each pass is not going to make enough time difference to not do it. Mine is spending more time lost between my pine trees, shadows, and tall grass by the fields since I have to use vision.
Agreed, options are certainly good. I like the advanced area where some fine tuning is able to be done. Keeps a bit hidden from those that don’t care and keeps the interface clean.
In a perfect world the turnaround algorithm would work and it wouldn’t miss spots. Even if it did, I’d still like to able to vary the turnaround location relative to the Area perimeter to reduce turf wear. A switch would take care of both.
While I see your point, I see the turnaround always an issue no matter the device. The fix is simple. I did the same thing when I manually mowed with the ZT. I wouldn’t want to watch this thing take intricate movements to get really small missed areas. Especially knowing the accuracy at its best is still an inch or 2 off. Take the extra pass over the top and done…
