Camera Calibration

  1. In this post, https://forum.yarbo.com/t/camera-calibration-beta/3838/13 , Yarbo says NOT to do camera calibration unless specifically recommended to. But in the app it seems to advise regular calibration. Which should I believe?
  2. What exactly is camera calibration supposed to solve? What does an “uncalibrated” camera do?
  3. My front and right cameras work fine, they “see” everything, only have one problem: The colors are wrong. The white siding on our house appears as yellowish in these two cameras, grey pavers also appear yellowish. The other two cameras do not have this problem. This doesn’t seem to affect the performance of the machine at all.

Some cameras have different color profiles. If you are concerned about it, I’d recommend opening a ticket. But I have seen this too with some of the cameras. As for the calibration, they should be calibrated from factory and they aren’t using VIO or VSLAM yet where this would be more important. It’s a bit of a process to calibrate them. I’d definitely not do it without direction from support.

We still recommend not performing camera calibration unless it is explicitly instructed by our support team.

Also, the color issue you are seeing on the camera cannot be resolved through this calibration function.

Regarding the different camera color profiles, this will not affect the normal operation or performance of the camera.
