Clearance Issues - Self Recovery / Unstuck mechanism

Yarbo has very little clearance. I operate my mower unit in loamy loose soil areas that sometimes have limited vegetation and on hills. It gets stuck A LOT! High centered between the tracks then the tracks dig in. I have to run out and lift the unit out of the dug-in situation.

I am sure this will also be a problem in the snow blower mode.

It would be nice to have a recovery mechanism that could get it unstuck. A couple of options include:

  1. A belly track/belt that could be engaged to help recovery
  2. A lever that could deploy and push the unit along.
  3. Ability to increase the overall clearance by lowering the track system. (Like air suspension)
  4. Taller tracks that could give more clearance. (this could be the easiest retrofit)

I agree 100%, Yarbo needs to have a lot more clearance. The low clearance is causing many units’s charging system get damaged due to something is hitting from bottom

For me, I’m thinking “second Yarbo with a winch”.

Totally impractical, but I know several of us would buy it to avoid “touch” penalties.

Gives whole new meaning to tow mode!

I understand Yarbo came up with low clearing due to wireless charging but instead of lowering Core, Yarbo can easily increase center height of the docking station or make it like auto raise when core is detected for charging. I really think Yarbo needs to invest more in docking station to have some kinda beacon for position and direction.

Thank you for this information. My charging system stopped working and although the unit will be replaced, I did not receive information on the intended cause. Without this information, the replacement unit would just receive the same work and it would break down too.

It most likely wasn’t because of damage. I have not seen any reports of this. It’s pretty robust hardware.

I have noticed with the latest software update, Yarbo does not dig in quite as much. Just stops when there is some slippage so I can manually navigate out of the spot. But there is still a clearance issue while mowing rough terrain. Mine gets stuck at least once per day.

Try altering the angle of attack in the area or drop a NGZ in that spot and use a dead end to clean it up if you need to.

The places it gets stuck seem to be random. But mostly on turns. I have smart turns on, but it still tries zero turns on both work areas and pathways from time to time.

It will default to zero turn on the pathway to the dock (in front of) and in tight constrained places. If it’s zero turning outside of that (like out in the open areas), then you should submit a ticket for that if you have it set to smart turns.

As for the random stuck, I have a couple of roots and depending on how the rover hits them it will trigger track slippage and sometimes it high centers on the root, I think mostly because the ESD chain gets stuck between the root and the bottom of the core, although I cannot verify this. 99% of the time it stops with track slippage, I can remote control it off the root no problem. A couple of times I’ve had to go rescue it. But, it only occurs when I run 90 degrees vs zero degrees and also when the rover is turning over top of this root. I think sometimes it gets caught on the blade guards or the rake.

you need an axe

but that takes effort and I’m inherently lazy. Hence why I bought a yard robot! :joy:

Getting stuck in my soft soil is a daily occurrence.
