Yeah using it with any module is a biggie! wagons, etc, especially if theyâre heavy will need more weight on yarbo to work well.
This is wonderful! We have a lot of elevation change on our lot, being able to turn Yarbo1 into a transit system would be really useful for yardwork, project materials transport - or even outdoor parties and events. Put a bowtie on Yarbo1 and attach a fancy party wagon with food or drinks - automated waitstaff!
I would use it to fertilize my lawn, I would use it clean my lawn, I would use it to roll my lawn, I would use it to arrate my lawn, etc etc etc.
I have a version working through MQTT commands.
I send a geojson file of way points, and the yarbo goes from point to point. The issue I have now is dealing with obstacles. Thereâs an error mqtt message that could be used to send a stop message, but I donât know if it works for obstacles.
I need to try tapping the bumper to see if it sends the message.
I would love to be able to hook up a trailer, select a point on the map and send the yarbo to it, pulling the trailer. I can then meet it at the compost heap for example, empty it, then send it back so I can load again. Much more useful to send it and meet it at the location than spend my time driving it or waiting for it to follow me.
Waypoints do exist if the SAM is attached.
Last year when I tried it, I didnât have confidence Yarbo wouldnât ram into some random object while en route to the pin drop location. To be honest, I havenât tried it since, cause you need the SAM module attached.
I believe they have added obstacle avoidance but I donât know whether or not that works with waypoints. I would hope so. I have definitely not swapped the SAM onto the core in a long time. Donât really have a need to. I really want the mower to support waypoints as thatâs something I have on almost year round. Snow blower with waypoints would also be nice.
Sure seems like a small amount of dev effort to add Waypoints to the other modules. I wonder why they donât do it.
And while theyâre at it, allow me to save waypoints so I can just pick from a list and send Yarbo to drive to a pre-designated location.
All the guys who store their Yarboâs in their garages could really benefit from such a feature.
I agree
Enable facial recognition to prevent it from stopping following you and starting following other people, recognize the most common obstacles and allow it to pass through passages with gates, etc. Itâs also possible for it to recognize the dimensions of the tool youâre using, or you can manually enter them, for example, a leaf collector so that it can automatically turn around the area without accidents.
