Tow Mode?

Is there an updated status on tow mode?

Last I heard: “July - August” – maybe, what, a week and a half ago?

Ken K. indicated they haven’t been happy with the testing. He also said it will be limited in the first release, from what I gathered a rectangular Area with a limited number of No-go Zones. He did say they expanded it from just the SAM to the Mower as well, which I was glad to hear so you won’t have to swap out the mower module. (You won’t be able to mow in Tow Mode, which makes sense, as mowing backs up and gets the crannies, Tow Mode has to keep what you’re towing in mind.)

Ryan in Chicago did a demonstration of the early version of Tow Mode about 3 weeks ago, and it was doing what you’d expect, very basic. If it’s able to tow my lawn sweeper around the open areas of my lawn, I’ll be happy with that.

I just ran the lawn sweeper in Toe Mode (walking around with it with the controller). In Tow Mode I’ll just rake debris from the sides/crannies to the front of the rover, and it’ll do the cleaning up for me. Same as I do for leaf cleanup with the riding mower – I rake a little, it does the rest. That works.

but I’m pretty sure I don’t want a mower with toe mode

Seems ok to not mow while towing

A use case I could think of is mowing while towing a lawn sweeper to pick up anything it can get – get it in one swell foop. But it’s not necessary, I don’t think, and I’m fine with running things in stages.

Wouldn’t a sweeper HAVE to throw off the navigation for mowing? My Yarbo does a whole lot of backing while mowing. I fell like it would simply twist the tongue on the sweeper. ALOT!

well If it just did nascar turns it would be fine

LOL… spit out my tea on that one. We’re off to the Yarbo races!

Thank you for your interest in tow mode and for your continued attention.

We are about to enter another round of testing for tow mode. While development is progressing, we don’t have a specific release timeline at this moment. We truly appreciate your patience and support.
