🌟 Community Spotlight #3: Seasonal Switch & Maintenance Tips

Dear Yarbo Family,

We’ve noticed that many of you are starting to switch from the snow blower module to the lawn mower module as the seasons change :seedling::snowflake:

We’d love to hear how you’re handling this transition — from storage to maintenance!

:speech_balloon: Let’s talk about it:

:one: Have you switched modules yet?

Or if you only have the lawn mower module, have you taken it out and started using it?

:two: How are you storing your snow blower module?

Any tips for keeping it in good condition during the off-season?

:three: What’s your maintenance routine for the lawn mower module?

Cleaning, blade checks, anything you do regularly — share your best practices!

Feel free to share anything else from your experience — tips, lessons learned, or even things you’d do differently next time!

Let’s learn from each other and get ready for a great mowing season :rocket:

I restored my summer map. I’ve noticed we lost the ability to rename saved maps and the ability to store maps to the cloud. Please correct me if I overlooked some button somewhere.

I switched to the lawn mower. Mowed 2 of 8 areas between rain showers. I had to adjust 1 area in my map, so far, to deal with the “forced safety boundaries” that were removed.

I must say, needing to reset ALL settings after a map restore is a PITA.

@Yarbo-Forum its super simple these days to convert settings to JSON and store them along-side the maps.

Snow blower is covered and tucked safely in the shop where the lawn mower was sitting next to the leaf blower.

lawn mower got a quick spritz with the hose. Blades were changed before storing. So the transition to mowing went really well aside from the aforementioned pains.

I switched from the snow blower to the mower module last weekend. I put the foam packing cup over the motor and put on the cover. It sits where the mower module was in the corner next to the garage door. I put it on top of a scrap of plywood with chunks of packing foam keeping it upright. This fall, it may get a custom wood cradle with locking castor wheels.

I used my small leaf blower to dust off the modules and clean out the front of the core. I used my snow brush to brush all the grass and pollen dust off the mower module. I did the old “full send” to my main back yard work area. I noticed some map drift since Buzz bumped the side yard fence 3x. Soft touch was enabled, and he did just fine. He did so well, I sent him to the side yard after the main back yard zone was done. The next day I had my wife open the garage and detach the charge cord while I drove it out to the next work zone by smart vision from my cube at work. Sent him off to mow, and he finished quicker than expected. I used the smart vision to drive him into the dock zone in the garage and nearly parked him perfect. Since he was a good boy, he’ll get a bath and some maintenance next weekend.

Thanks!

I swapped to the mower module a couple of weeks ago. Still too early for First Mow of the year, but Yarbo is ready to go!

I have a vertical shelf I installed that holds all of Yarbo’s modules. I should probably order the module dust covers, but for now the modules are just sitting on the shelf.

Snowblower PM:

  • Inspect sheer pins.
  • Liberal spray of WD-40 on auger, chute, and blade for corrosion avoidance.
  • New razor blades installed
  • Lubricate friction points
  • Check for mouse damage
  • Verify proper operation
