With Winter (mostly) over

How do you transition to the mower module? I assume it is attach mower module and follow instructions.

Does anyone have tips and tricks on storage of snow blower and winter tracks?

Power down the core. Clean up the tracks and around the idler and rice wheels. Put tracks in storage. Put the lawn treads on and ensure they are greased. Clean up the snow blower module and spray it down with WD40 to protect it from rust. Put new blades on the mower and clean any grass and debris out. Attach mower module and power up core. Send it.

replaced the tracks. What grease do you recommend?

Snow blower was hit with WD40 as suggested.

Since the mower is fresh out of the box, no need to earn up last year. I will need to read up and figure out how to map the lawn.

Yarbo’s is the best but it’s expensive. Any high vacuum grease if you can afford it is equivalent to theirs. Otherwise, this works well but needs to be applied more often but is economical and can be used in a grease gun.

I have Yarbo grease on the way to try it. I’ve been using Super Lube, which is great stuff, but it really disappears fast especially when cutting grass.

It does. About once a week for about an acre. But, there are people that don’t grease their tracks at all and claim it’s fine. I dunno. The popping doesn’t sound healthy to me and I’d rather not take the chance.

Yeah, preventative maintenance is a thing I believe in so I’ll be greasing the tracks regularly as Yarbo states. Now, my Honda track snow blower does not have any track grease requirements in the manual and had non when I bought it. I don’t grease those tracks and they look great after 9 years (with a LOT less use even after only 9 months with Yarbo). So…there’s that.

That is their logic too plus grease attracts dirt and can cause extra friction = wear. But, I haven’t had an issue thus far and I grease them :man_shrugging:

When in doubt, follow the manufacturers recommendations.

I only greased my tracks once over the entire winter. When I pulled them off to switch to ‘summer mode’, the winter tracks still looked like new on the inside. No signs of wear at all.

That said, probably best to follow the manufacturer’s advice. Don’t risk it like I did.
