Confirm Map: Autonomously drive rover around in dry run, confirm size/Location of No-go Zones (and maybe other mapped items)

Confirmation of mapped items: No-go Zone location/size, maybe other things (future?)

No-go Zones often need a tweak, at least for me. I create a number of them with Templates, but some I map with the rover, doesn’t matter. The majority of the time I do have to make changes – after the rover whacks into something I had a No-go Zone around.

It would be a useful feature if I could tell the rover to confirm the No-go Zone for me by driving around it autonomously (or, if not that, letting me drive up to the edge of the No-go Zone and visibly and/or audibly indicating that the No-go Zone is there - but I’d rather see the driving). This way I could let the rover help me check its understanding of the size and location of the No-go Zones in real life, not just on the map.

Notes:

  • This feature needs to take into account the rotation and mowing/snowblowing lines of the Area. When I mowed with 0 degrees + Mow Along No-go Zones OFF, a particular post in a No-go Zone wasn’t hit. At a 60 degree rotation (for the Diamond) + the Mow Along No-go Zones ON, the post was hit. Settings seem to matter.
  • I created a new Area and put what I thought was a decent size No-go Zone around a tree, but the rover drive right up to it and whacked the tree at high speed when the Work Plan was running. I would have confirmed that No-go Zone before starting the Work Plan and saved the mower a headache.
  • Futures: Beyond No-go Zones, borders can also be checked, and there are probably other things like turns, slippery areas, and drifting off-track (if you confirmed a full run of the Area) that could be given a dry run to show the user exactly what will be done or autonomously log any unexpected items and report them back.

But I think the No-go Zone and possibly border confirmation would be satisfactory to the majority of folks.

(I was going to submit this earlier, decided not to, but then a user on Facebook casually mentioned that a feature where the rover drove around No-go Zones would be helpful to him.)

Yes a test work plan function, maybe even with blades off. Great idea. Especially testing varying angles if you have a pattern or angle rotation defined. Also, a pop up warning if you change those asking if you want to retest or accept.
