DC WiFi

What is DC WiFi for?

For the new DC 2.0 (still in development). Will not work at all with the DC 1.0 (Current Y series DC)

Oh ok, confusing that it’s even available in the app…should be removed imo (feature-flag hidden).

For DC 2.0, what capabilites will DC WiFi offer? For example:

  1. ability for Yarbo app to connect to DC over WiFi (instead of BT only)
  2. ability for DC to connect to Internet via WiFi (instead of Ethernet only)

There are two versions of the DC 2.0 being considered (personally hoping they just make one, as it will be less confusing for consumers and support). One is NetRTK only and you can put it inside the home next to your router. It will be WiFi only for connection to the internet. The second is an upgraded one that has the same capabilities of the 1.0. It supports local RTK and also has Ethernet (POE) capability. They both can mount inside or outdoors, but for local RTK you have to obviously be mounted outside with a clear and unobstructed view of the sky.

Both will support OTA updates over whatever network connection they are using. It does still have bluetooth I think for the initial provisioning. That may expand, but I am unsure.

@dhollema, thanks for asking this question. I had wondered the same thing and feels good to have an answer now. I agree, it should be hidden if it doesn’t apply to a specific DC model.

@bryan.wheeler, thank you for explaining what this app feature is intended for! Now I won’t randomly stand by my DC 1.0 and click this DC Wi-Fi option, and continue to wait for “hours” while the app spins whilst showing “please place your phone as close as possible to the Data Center you want to connect.” I thought I was missing out on a feature and I’ve tried this multiple times.

I did the same thing over and over…

Lol. You and a lot of others have done this. They really should label that or something.
