Disable edge mowing per No Go Zone (NGZ)

There are times when I would like the ability to toggle on and off mowing around a specific no go zone. This might be to limit grass wear, work around an issue, the NGZ is too small to mow around, or just speed things up since it is already mowed. Ideally with mow disabled for a particular NGZ, it would just go around it much like it does with obstacle avoidance. The difference here is that it could pre-plan a route around it. That route should be smooth arcs, not shimmies, stops, and back ups. One continuous forward motion. I honestly don’t mind if it overlaps an existing path line(s) to do this.

Please add this setting to each NGZ (leave the global setting as well for quick enable and disable on all.) I envision this to be just like the enable/disable NGZ.

I’m having trouble parsing this request.

No go zones can be disabled to be mowed.

And enabled to not be mowed.

Are you talking about no go zone perimeters?

Maybe a picture would help.

Yes, mow around the NGZ perimeters. Correct me if I’m wrong but it is currently a global setting and not a per individual NGZ. I would like the option to disable PER individual NGZ and not globally.

Gotcha.

No go zone edging is a work area setting.

Has that EVER happened?

A lot. I’ve slept since yesterday. Anything is possible. :joy:

I’m not sure if this ties into your request but I would like NGZ’s to be enabled/disabled for specific work plans.

Use case: I split my driveway into two areas for snowblowing. There may be a car in area 1 when I snowblow area 2 and vice versa. It would be much easier if I could enable an NGZ as part of a work plan instead of having to toggle them on and off each time a plan is executed.

If running work plan X turn on NGZ A and turn off NGZ B.

I think that deserves its own feature request. Seems like a great idea. Mine is just about picking which NGZ’s perimeters get cut around (or not). Also incorporating some adaptive type behavior to go around them instead of cutting up the area into quadrants around them. You know, how a human would more naturally deal with it. Object directly in my path, let me drive around it and get back on a straight line.

Finished mowing and was able to check and make sure I wasn’t crazy (for this reason). It is an area setting. I updated the original request title and added a picture to make it more clear what I am referring to.

That’s funny. I’m literally out snowblowing as I type this.

We are getting some freezing weather tonight. I have been unable to mow for about 6 weeks waiting for the core aeration and over seeding to germinate and get established. Grass was tall. But, I was mowing last year up until January. Snow blowing in February, mowing in March. This year, seems like it might be earlier.

Wish I could say that. It’s not unheard of for us to start snow blowing in October. I usually don’t start mowing until April or May.

Yarbo’s view this morning. That’s snow and it’s too early for that crap

You haven’t lived until you’ve snow mowed!

Hi Bryan, thanks so much for sharing this suggestion. We can definitely understand the use cases you described, and the idea of giving more control over mowing behavior around specific NGZs makes sense.

We’ll record this request and discuss it with our UI/UX design team to see how it could fit into future improvements. At the moment, it may be placed at a relatively lower priority compared to some ongoing development tasks, but we truly appreciate you bringing this forward and explaining it so clearly.

Thanks again for helping us improve the Yarbo experience.
