It would be nice to be able to turn off the reversing of Yarbo for specific tasks. No fancy turns, no object avoidance features, etc. I want to have Yarbo harrow a sand arena. This would require a spiral pattern (only) and because it’s towing, it can’t be allowed to back up.
Thanks for your suggestion! Just to confirm—are you looking to use this feature specifically for towing?disabling reverse is actually one of the key features we’ve considered for the Tow Mode, where reversing will be disabled by default. We really appreciate you sharing your ideas—it helps us build a better product!
A Little Birdie told me that Yarbo is bringing snowblower Sidewalks to the mower. Sidewalks are “Super Pathways” (according to an Engineer I spoke with months ago). Sidewalks work in three modes for the snowblower:
- Sidewalks go out, 180 degree turn, come back (this is the default mode, appropriate for a snowblower, which has to clear a path for itself as it goes)
- Go out, reverse to come back, like a mower’s Deadend (added late last season – haven’t used it yet – awesome, thanks, Yarbo!)
- Become a one-way Pathway if it starts in a mapped location and ends in another mapped location (I’ve connected anything to anything – this sometimes works inconsistently but is really useful – even Yarbo doesn’t believe me, but it does work, and the Yarbo folks should tweak it a little to be consistent and never EVER “fix” this great “non-existent” feature by removing it – no no!!!)
– The kicker on this last one? You can add Sidewalks to a Work Plan so it’s done in the order you want. Sidewalks are GREAT for pre-cleaning something to allow the snowblower more room to work and then post-cleaning anything that’s missed (like a Deadend does).
– Need a double-wide path in the snow? You can trick Pathways to do it, but you can use contiguous Sidewalks and put them in a Work Plan.
– One-way Sidewalk endpoints can be starts or ends, doesn’t matter. The rover will pick a start where it’s closer to navigate.
Do those Pathway-like one-way Sidewalks need to be added to a Work Plan to be used? Hmmm…Honestly, I forget. I think they will be used as a normal Pathway if available, but someone may need to correct me on that. I’ll have my memory refreshed soon enough when the snow flies in a couple of months. The Engineer I spoke with said that Sidewalks should be everywhere and just replace Pathways entirely. I appreciate the passion. He should get lunch and a plaque.
Pathways cannot be added to a work plan. Sidewalks and dead ends can.
