Docking station as no-go zone

Would it be possible to make docking station as special no-go zone, so it can be placed anywhere in mapped area (and inside a zone) and avoid awkward pathways.

So based on docking station location yarbo would know how close to it it can cut the grass.

It is an annoyance for sure.

Hi @andris.leja Making the docking station a No-Go Zone would actually conflict with the current system logic. If the DS were treated as a No-Go Zone, Yarbo would block access to the DS area, which could cause navigation errors and prevent it from docking properly.

We really appreciate the suggestion though — ideas like this help us keep refining how Yarbo plans routes.

That’s exactly why I wrote ā€œspecial no-go zoneā€œ.

Ultimately the goal would be to put the docking station anywhere and even within area and Yarbo would know the exact boundaries not to mow lawn too close to docking station etc.

Now for me the dock is placed within area de facto, but I just had to drive to dock as close as possible when mapping the area to reduce uncut zones to minimum.

I agree. This would be very useful if you ever have a need to move your docking station to a different location on the property.

A good example of this would be moving the dock for winter snowblower use. Currently, I can’t easily move my dock to put it in the grass adjacent to the driveway because the grass is a grass cutting and leaf blowing zone. But if I could place a temporary ā€œDocking Station Zoneā€ in the grass, I could then place the dock inside that zone and associate Yarbo with it.

Then in the spring, I just delete the ā€œDocking Station Zoneā€ and move the dock back to its summer location.

You could achieve this by saving your maps, delete that area, install (add and enable) the dock. When ready to revert, delete the dock, and restore the saved map. Probably don’t need to delete the winter dock because it will get overwritten, but I would for good measure. Only downside would be all area settings, schedules, and work plans would default.

Interesting idea using the cloud saved maps.

Ok. So what happens if during the winter, I need to modify or add a snowblower area. Then I revert the maps come Spring? I’d lose those map updates, wouldn’t I?

Well cloud maps would overwrite but you can save up to 10, I think, local maps on the core. So you could have winter and spring/summer/fall maps. Just make backups as you make changes or before you restore. Cloud maps are automatically saved during firmware updates, if I’m not mistaken. You get one of those.

You can add multiple docking stations and turn them on or off based on your needs.

The problem with placing DS within the area is that during work plan cables might get ruined by auger or blades.

Well, the docking station cable anyway is way longer than the docking station ā€˜rectangle’ on the map, so most likely cable mainy should be protected by common sense when installing the docking station.

If only the wireless charging station was wireless.
