Well this will be the first test, any tips on running this remotely? We’re going to be traveling for Thanksgiving just before the storm hits…was contemplating whether or not to wait to see how bad it really gets and maybe try to mess with it on the way home Friday, but 25” with drifts might be a bit much for all at once😅. If Yarbo gets “stuck” is it best to just remotely shut it down so the battery doesn’t drain?
Do you have a neighbor or someone who can give it a shove or drag it to the dock if needed? If so, it would be a good test. If not, you may end up with a stuck Yarbo with a dead battery.
That’s gonna be gnarly.
DO IT! DO IT! DO IT! DO IT!
PEER PRESSURE! PEER PRESSURE! PEER PRESSURE! ![]()
Hahahahaha.
I’m his neighbor…in Alpena,MI. ![]()
I might…but if I just shut it down remotely it should turn everything off right? Then I’d just have to get it back to the dock once I manually clear the snow, or would I have to bring in the battery to warm up first? It should be capable of providing power just not charging for a little while, can the dock provide power to the heaters or does the battery have to heat itself first before the dock will provide any power
So if you shut it down and leave it, the battery won’t heat itself. If you put it on the charger, it will warm up the battery first before charging if it is too cold, that is correct. You probably wouldn’t be able to start the charging process until the battery was sufficiently heated. If under 85% then it would auto start charging eventually.
Ok, that’ll be my backup plan, getting back onto the dock is my current biggest worry since the dock cleaning doesn’t work for my setup. I don’t have much area that “needs” to be done. Just the main driveway area(currently has our vans no-go zone) and the front apron. I have the closest half of the apron in a no go zone so Yarbo doesn’t try to take on the city plow😅, I’ll play with a few things to see how it handles that if the driveway stays clear. I also might do some of the sidewalks if things go really really well😅, tempering expectations on this one😅
Sell the house and move!
lol, if anything we might move further north, summer is still toasty:sweat_smile:
you can always put more layers on, things start getting dicey once you remove too many layers:zany_face:
Especially considering one of those layers contains your built in active cooling system ![]()

Time to get out the real plow. ![]()
You going to wait for 30 inches and then send Yarbo out? ![]()
Definitely look like the Koolaid man busting through those snow banks. Oh yeah!
Wow! Please feel free to keep all that snow to yourself up there! ![]()
Here in Mid Michigan, we’re still getting nothing but dreary rain.
Every time I see this I immediately check my weather app. Ha
That wind will be the tricky part if it hits you.
You can send Yarbo out every half hour to keep up with snowfall. But drifts form in minutes, lol.
If that’s gonna happen and mess with your ability to run the core, might be worth looking at a snow fence to change things up.
If drifts aren’t an issue with your driveway, if your dry runs work without sticking? Send it.
Worst case, you owe a neighbor a beer or two.
I’ve got plenty of backups if needed, just not as convenient as simply pulling into the pre-cleared driveway once we get home😁
Started the pre-notification of “stuckness” to my buddy, but after a half hour or so of raising and lowering the bucket and bumping g the tracks backwards I got it out of the 2nd stuck(first one I caught early and it was super easy to get unstuck I left it run until I noticed it stopped making progress transferring from the sideyard area onto the pathway to the garden…seriously zero-turns suck😅)…got it to the middle of the driveway and we’ll see how far it makes it…ope…workplan paused notification while typing this😅
