Flippy GPS Icon and Instability Caused by PPVS-I Think

I swear it’s the Yarbo Labs >PPVS. If off, my GPS signal is solid on the icon. Green on the regular.
With PPVS on it bounces in and out of yellow, green, disconnected.
Let me know what you guys think. I don’t know that it’s causing any performance issues. Just sit and watch with the it toggled on/off.

With PPVS enabled it can flip to different statuses because it adds the quality metric. Satellites are always moving and the quality can fluctuate. Especially near obstructions like your home. Basically anything that can reflect the signal can impact the quality. Atmospheric conditions can as well. There’s a G4 geomagnetic storm event kicking off tonight, that can also have an impact on the quality. With PPVS disabled, quality is disabled and ignored. So, reflected signals could still read as good. If you think it’s abnormal for any reason, I’d suggest putting in a ticket for them to analyze it and see. I will admit, there are times I’m scratching my head too trying to figure out why one Yarbo is working fine in the front yard and the other is waiting for GPS out in the open in the back yard. But it seems to be around the same times of day and in the same spots of the yard. I wish we had access to more data of the core. Even a scatter plot like the DC gives you with CNR values of each antenna would be useful.

Hi there,

I’ve confirmed with our field service engineer that the actual GPS signal quality isn’t affected by whether PPVS is turned on or off. However, the GPS icon changes color based on different indicators depending on the PPVS setting:

  • When PPVS is off:

    • :green_circle: Green — RTK Status = 4

    • :yellow_circle: Yellow — RTK Status = 5

    • :black_circle::red_circle: Black/Red — RTK Status = 2 or 1

  • When PPVS is on:

    • :green_circle: Green — Quality > 0.6

    • :orange_circle: Orange — Quality < 0.6

    • :black_circle::red_circle: Black/Red — RTK Quality = 0

Hope this helps clarify things!
