Got Yarbo, 3 DC issues

@bryan.wheeler DC is probably sitting on the ground since he’s messing with things so often

It is ground mounted and yes, not on the roof for those reasons. I hope to get a DC 2.0 when that is available and finally mount that on the roof one day.

Nailed it  The radiation pattern is probably not great vertically, like being directly below the DC.

I appreciate all the help, but after this troubleshooting (all of which ruled out many things) I’m still left with the question of how do I fix this.

It seems to be one of those RTK antennas must be malfunctioning, does that sound reasonable based on the diagnostics?

If so I think I’ve seen aftermarket antennas mentioned that work better than stock. I don’t want to spend extra money if you guys have other things this is more likely to be, but if need be… its gotta run.

Switch to NetRTK under settings, positioning service and let’s see if you can get green GPS that way. Toggle on Cellular under network if it isn’t already.

@bryan.wheeler Maybe also remove the HaLow antenna from the core to make sure it fails over to cellular. Then the DC is out of the loop.

Maybe I missed it but I didn’t see a confirmation that the WiFi was “forgotten” on the core.

Could just turn off the DC too.

Duh! My bad.

Will try all that after my meeting.

Considering the HaLo is being transmitted with a standard whip antenna, the transmission pattern would be doughnut or toroidal in shape with the inner surface touching the antenna. i.e. a hole diameter of zero. So yes, in close proximity to the antenna the vertical reception won’t be great. If the antenna on the rover were directly beneath the DC HaLo antenna, the reception would be horrible. That said, the field will expand in the vertical axis pretty quickly as you move away from the antenna. It also depends on the length of the antenna vs. the wavelength of the transmission.

Spoken like a true ham.

I switched to netRTK, unplugged the DC and turned on cellular data. This is just a tad frustrating.

Don’t forget to be a little patient with the Cellular side. I’ve had times where the rover is working just fine, but seems to take a couple of minutes to establish a cellular connection. Once it does, it’s very stable, but it does take some time to connect though. Same on the GPS side. I’ve had times where I go in to the app and it connects to the rover right away, but it takes 1-2 minutes (which is an eternity when you’re looking at the app) before it even begins to see a GPS lock, let alone a full or stable one.

Very true on both point, several minutes for sure on GPS lock after I drive it out from my steel pole building shop.

Fair enough. Ive got it sitting in wide open air for a few.

Please post your diagnosis pages

So after sitting in open air for 5+minutes. Should I be considering replacement antennas?

Go into settings, Yarbo Labs, and make sure PPVS is on

It was. Here are the settings

That’s very strange. It is showing as disabled in diagnostics. Try turning it off. Your diagnostics look beautiful otherwise.
