and one more pic with opposite view of the garage roof install location:
Those should be fine. Have you made sure the RTK antenna is tight on the data center? Doesn’t need to be too tight but make sure it is good and hand tight. Also, have you update your data center firmware to 1.0.25? You can check that under data center settings in the settings in the app.
thank you, that photo is very helpful! if yours is working fine it seems like it helps rule out my trees as the problem.
we made sure the RTK antenna is tight and we checked to make sure we have the latest firmware and it is indeed 1.0.25. given the photo provided by @Micke, it seems unlikely that our tree cover is the problem. I do have starlink on my property for internet. Fiber is coming but won’t be installed and spliced into my property until late 2025/early 2026 is what I am hearing. Could the starlink dish be interfering with the RTK receiver on the data center and/or the rover? We are going to try it out hopefully sometime this week on a different property that does not have starlink and see if we can get it to work better. in the meantime, despite our troubleshooting trying restarts/resets with disconnecting battery/ shutting everything down including unplugging POE, swapping the antennas on the rover, all of the spots we have tried on the property (4 different sites including on top of the shop, the garage, the house and the highest/clearest land point), we keep getting the alternating poor/excellent meter. we’ve noticed that when it flips from poor to excellent it goes from CNR of 36 dB-Hz (poor) to 37 (excellent), ranging from as low as 30 to as high as 39, but the flip from poor to excellent is at that 36 to 37 point. if it isn’t starlink, could it possibly be the data center itself or the rtk antenna??? lastly, I am out of town and indisposed this upcoming week, my brother-in-law is going to be troubleshooting and will respond to further posts. thank you again for your help!
Hello @bryan.wheeler I am working with @aerggls and will be continuing to help troubleshoot her Yarbo issues while she is out of town… Thank you so much with your help and patience. Hopefully we can figure out these issues.
I’m thinking it might be your RTK antenna. You could try swapping it with the right one off the core and see if things improved. Right side as you face the rear of the core.
@bryan.wheeler, you are a genius…. That was the issue, when I used the antenna from the core we had a prolonged excellent signal….
Can we get another antenna???
Yep just get a support ticket opened and post the ticket number here and @Yarbo-Forum can make sure it’s expedited for you.
@bryan.wheeler I have a ticket open #103053
@bryan.wheeler
Just got a response from the ticket essentially stating that if there is no damage to the antenna they usually don’t replace it….I explained that the “bad” antenna is now on the core and we just don’t trust the antenna now…
Post a link to this forum post in the ticket and hopefully the forum administrator can escalate it as well. I’ve already tagged them so I’m sure they will see it soon.
I posted a link of the forum to the ticket, thank you
If I may, I had this exact issue that I describe in detail here: Intermittent GPS issue related to "unbroken" antenna
I kept this antenna and installed it again a few times to confirm and it breaks the GPS. Maybe @Yarbo-Forum would like to study it to see what is wrong with it? No physical damage but clearly not functional. This seems to be the issue here too. Again, Yarbo, I really think that a lot of the GPS issues you have are related to the antennas that become damaged without any physical evidence to it (water? Condensation?)
Could also be a hidden defect introduced during the manufacturing process.
Sorry for the delayed response, and thank you so much for your patience — as well as for all the effort from the enthusiastic forum members who have been helping you troubleshoot the possible cause of the GPS issue.
I’ve reviewed your support ticket, and we’ve received your order number. Your case has already been escalated, and our team will be following up with you very soon.
Regarding the navigation challenges: as mentioned in the recent CEO AMA thread, improving Yarbo’s navigation — especially in areas with dense tree cover or unstable GPS — is one of our top priorities. Our team is actively working on enhancements, including NTRIP service support and a new fusion positioning algorithm, which is designed to improve navigation performance in complex environments.
We truly appreciate your interest in Yarbo, and we hope it will become a reliable helper for your yard very soon.
Are we able to use an after market RTK antenna? I also have GPS issues where it misses a quarter of my driveway. No trees. 24 to 27 sats normally. My data center is located on my roof about 30 feet almost line of sight from rover.
Thanks.
@falconfixer We do not recommend using an aftermarket RTK antenna, as we cannot guarantee the performance of antennas from other sources. As a kind reminder, if any after-sales issues are caused by using a non-original antenna, they may not be covered under warranty.
