Halow and GPS signals dropping out

I’m trying to procrastinate from work by watching yarbo mow the lawn through the cameras, but the Halow and GPS signals keep dropping out. It will run for a minute or two, then drop out both signals (icons go red). Yarbo keeps plodding along and the signals come back after another minute or two. Then drop out again. Then come back. …

My yard is flat as a pancake with some trees along the perimeter. This signal drops out when the core is in the middle of the yard, with a direct line of sight to the DC, which is mounted on the roof of my garage with no obstructed view, for reference. On the Android app as well, all updated according to the app store. Also I did the unplug the battery and DC and restart dance already.

I’m thinking this is an app issue, since yarbo keeps going with the task at hand? Are there setting I should be changing?

What is your HaLow signal strength? Do you have WiFi configured on the core at all? Do you have cellular enabled?

HaLow is -60 to -80

it looks like I have wifi configured for the rover, but not the DC?

I dont have Cellular turned on.

I’ll try setting up the DC wifi and get back to you. Thanks Bryan.

-80 would cause it to drop out and fail over to WiFi or cellular (if it was enabled). I would toggle cellular on, it’s free and good for failover if HaLow drops. I would also consider deleting your home wifi off the rover. That could be part of the issue. Reboot after. DC WiFi is not an option for the Y Series DC. Only the DC 2.0 that isn’t out yet.

Ok I told the rover to forget my wifi. Turned cellular on, and restarted the core. It keeps switching from Bluetooth to hawlow to 4g, and the signals keep dropping out. I cant get the diagnostics screen to update when the signals are dropped out.

Maybe couldn’t hurt to power off your DC for 5 mins and then power it back on.

Forgetting the WiFi connection and A DC reboot are great 1st steps as @bryan.wheeler mentioned. How far from the DC is the rover when you’re seeing the -60-80 HaLow signal strength? I’m typically in -50’s to low -60’s worst case.

You might also be right on the edge of your BT range. You’ll experience app connectivity issues with this condition as well. You could try disabling BT access for the App to remove one variable.

Figured it out… :person_facepalming:

That’ll do it!. WiFi would be your friend in this case, assuming you have coverage across your whole yard. Cellular could also function for a while too.

That’s great news, thanks Bryan.

Ouch! Glad you noticed it. Thank goodness it’s something simple and not a more complicated problem.
