Have Yarbo core do self mapping and updating.

I have another robot that vacuums my inside of my house. I do not need to remap if I rearrange the furniture. The robot will update and learn as it bumps into new obstacles. Why cannot Yarbo use the same type of technology and be self updating?

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your question!

Currently, when Yarbo encounters obstacles, they’re detected as point clouds during the active work plan. However, these temporary obstacle data points are cleared once the work plan is completed.

We’ve actually discussed with other users the idea of allowing owners to choose whether to retain certain detected obstacles and have Yarbo recognize them as no-go zones in future runs. This could make operation more convenient and adaptable over time. Do you think this approach would be helpful or feasible for your use case?

As for indoor robots like vacuums, their environment and coverage area are quite different, so the mapping technologies aren’t directly comparable.

That said, we truly appreciate your feedback and suggestions — ideas like yours help us continue improving Yarbo’s performance and user experience.

The option to retain certain point clouds would be great. Even a loose attempt at identifying them by software (ie a tree or rock) and have the system compair them to previously recorded events to help map out obstacles.
