I built a Yog House for Yarbo

I built a Yog house for Yarbo because day after day I watched my little buddy roasting in the sun and drenched in the rain. IV tried shade cloth with a PVC pipe frame and Yarbo just ripped it to pieces. I decided to go ahead and build something that will hold up to the weather and something yarbo can’t push around. 6’ deep by 5’ wide and 30” high in the front 24” in the rear. it doesn’t seem to interfere with the GPS at all. in the docking settings it has to be set to zero turn so it doesn’t run into the sides of the house. does anyone know if yarbo can be set to turn around further away from the charge pad? if it can, I can push yarbo further under the Yog House. there’s also plenty of room for a box fan for ventilation if necessary.

I ended up having to make some adjustments to the yarbo house. I had to cut a 2’x17” notch so yarbo can turn around and still be covered.

That’s really cool! I’ve been thinking about my approach to a covering and I would also like the ability to adjust the distance from the dock to turn around for the exact same reason.

Right now, unfortunately you cannot. I too would like for it to turn around in the area and back down the pathway and straight onto the dock.

Maybe it can be a future yarbo addition.

That’s really cool. But where is the charging pad? What is the roof material, polycarbonate?

It would be nice if Yarbo added many more options to docking, i.e. module height. As it is mine is able to turn around before docking (barely) but only because the module half sticks out. I could imagine Yarbo taking the whole pathway in reverse to allow for full garages like this.

Agreed. It would solve a lot of problems for people and make so many extremely happy. There are a lot of good reasons to do this. Including not tearing up the spot right in front of the dock where it currently is turning around to dock. Smart turn out in a known open area and back all the way down the path and right onto the dock.

the “houses” probably need to be pretty big for the snow blower. I believe it cleans the charging station before charging. I haven’t seen it in action yet though….

If I remember correctly I believe clearing the charging station after snow blowing is an option that can be toggled on and off.

The charging pad is under the yarbo. The roof panels are from Lowe’s. Don’t know what kind of material they are. But it doesn’t seem to interfere with the GPS signal very much.

I guess as long as it’s not metal, it should be fine!

I love the Shou Sugi Ban style siding, and the Yarbo track plate for the houses name, very cute.

You should publish the plans, I’d give a few bucks to build something like that.

This is correct. You can specify 0, 1, 2 times to clean the dock. Clearing of snow definitely wouldn’t be necessary for a dock under a shelter.

That depends on wind and how much drift you get in that area. It could actually become a bigger problem if the snow accumulates inside it.

That’s fair. Good point. You’d have a hard time getting the snow removed through a roofline or walls though. I think right now the throwing options are just left, right, front for the dock.

My Yarbo is currently still housed in the Amazon tent-like doghouse I bought earlier this year as a temporary solution.

Given how sensitive Yarbo’s GPS antennas seem to be, I wanted to make sure the dock positioning was suitable before building something permanent.

Seeing your build is making me want to start working on my permanent house now, before winter hits here in Michigan.

Anyone changing the docking station location for winter? Right now, mine is housed in the wide open space to the West of the house. It’ll be interesting to see how much trouble the snow blower has getting around to the south where the driveway is.

I wasn’t originally planning to move my dock, but based on what I’ve seen and learned this summer, it might be wise for me to move it or buy a 2nd ‘winter dock’.

I had considered getting a second dock for the front yard for that purpose. I ended up with a second core. Don’t have to worry about getting through the fence now. :joy:

If you do move your dock, make sure that if you don’t reinstall it (in the app) and instead add a dock, that when you move it back to the original location that it is EXACTLY where it was before.

What is the proper (recommended) procedure to switch back and forth between docks?

The easiest way is to add another dock. This disables the first dock. You don’t lose any work plans or schedules or pathways to the original dock. You can enable and disable them as you see fit. As long as you put them in the exact same spot or actually have multiple this works very well. If you think it may move, even slightly, then just do the reinstall docking station in the app each time.
