I have a long driveway and a large turn around area which makes it difficult for Yarbo to finish my driveway “work plan” on a single charge. What I found was that is if I use the default setting of 20% for the “Recharge Battery Level” in the work plan preferences; and Yarbo has not finished the work plan; and is far from the docking station. The battery level can drop below 20% as it returns to the docking station. This causes Yarbo to struggles docking. Specifically, it fumbles around positioning/centering itself on the docking station. It does eventually finds its position but it can takes some time to complete. So, as you might guess, to fix this problem, I now set the Recharge Battery Level to 22% to insure I do not go below 20%. The new setting helped speed up the docking when the battery is low after a few storms of testing.
Interesting. I’ve seen mine fumble like this, but never considered battery level. Aborting the dock, driving away and hitting recharge again usually resolved it - but that 2nd recharge would start below that 20% and not trigger the threshold.
Can you clarify: when the actual docking starts -
- If it tries docking while above 20, it works normal? (hence the 22%)
- If it tries docking and is at 20, it fumbles? Or is normal (recharge at 20% and it starts near the dock so it never goes under)
- If it tries docking and falls under 20, it fumbles? (recharge at 20% but it’s far away and falls to 19% or whatever)
If you can, break out the behavior as best you can recall. It’d mean that while they made the recharge percent selectable,
- there’s still a hardcoded 20% floating around somewhere,
- it’s triggering a different “dock” codebase / behavior when it hits.
Do you have yours set to clear the dock with two passes, one pass, or none?
I noticed fumbling with one-pass selected. Two passes, fumble was more rare. But that does not consider the battery angle.
Cheers!
Hello Steve, With regard to your questions. I observe Yarbo having difficult when it trying to center itself on the docking. I do not see problems locating the docking station or clearing the docking station. Problems appears after Yarbo backs on to the docking station and tries position on the docking center for charging. I can see that it is “centered” on the app and on site but the robot continues “fumbling” around on the docking station by making small movements back and forth and side to side almost moving over the same ground. I do have robot programmed to clear the docking station twice. For my case, Yarbo’s battery level drops below 20% while traveling to the docking station. So while Yarbo runs it docking routine the level is below 20%. Thus, I can’t say what happen if the battery level drop below 20% while it is running the docking routine. Hope this helps!
This has been talked about in other threads. It “fumbles around” a lot more when the dock is wet, muddy, or icy from the tracks sliding on the dock.
